Politics do not enter my life in Canada. All my friends, family members, my co-workers, acquaintances, and random encounters never discuss politics! So it must be regional because the impression I get from the past couple of decades of constant interaction is politics are part of the fabric of the US. It certainly seems to an outsider such as myself that Americans can sometimes be rather obsessed with politics. And it's worse now than ever before.Anyway, I'm sure glad politics are a banned topic on this and all other forums I care to participate in as I not only despise politics but find them unbelievably boring and negative in nature.

Not like that here. I have never heard of people breaking up, breaking contact, having huge arguments, or anything close to that because of politics. Live & let live is how things are around here, usually. I hope it remains this way forever. No idea what you mean by politics has affected me. I steer clear of that nonsense.

It's not a claim. It's an opinion. There's a difference. And no, it's not a statement in its own way. That's you injecting whatever meaning you want. It literally means I don't find it interesting in the least bit to listen to anyone drone on about their political convictions or to listen to politicians drone on about issues. It doesn't mean I have to be interested in it or want to hear/talk about it. I'm not, so I don't.

I never wrote that it doesn't matter. You're putting words in my mouth just like you're injecting some kind of deep or nefarious meaning to my complete disinterest and indifference to politics as a topic. If you're in need of a semantics debate, I suggest you pick somebody else because correcting you endlessly is not how I plan to spend my weekend. Take care.

If you have something to say, it would be far more polite to address me directly. Your typical passive-aggressive nature is the main reason I don't usually bother to reply to your posts.Between spending my time talking about and listening to political arguments and spending time with my wife, my son, my dog, my friends or my family, the choice is quite easy for me. Politics are based on sets of rules governing us which while I acknowledge have no interest in delving into. I also don't discuss gardening, cars, or fashion for the same reasons ; to me, they're all boring topics. Nothing more to it than that.

I posted about how I appreciate politics not being an accepted topic on this forum... which is kind of the topic for this thread. I'll let you know if you get anything right. So far, you're zero for 15.
