blind_melon1: "It starts about 3mins 48seconds and lasts intermittently until the piano solo. It then reappears throughout the rest of side A. Having never owned this LP before, I thought it was a pressing issue, but I've borrowed the CD from my Dad, and it's there too. I grew up with this album in the house, but have only aquired it for myself this week. I've searched the forum, the googles, everywhere. Am I going crazy? :biglaugh: Aside from that, it's a stellar LP and a superb track :righton:" weirdomusic: "Wut? Are you referring to the bass?" vinylontubes: "I think so. It's the only think I hear other than Coltrane and the piano." Bingo Ringo! blind_melon1: "I was prepared to cop it a bit in this thread, highly likely it is the bass, but man my speakers don’t like it, sounds like car doors slamming louder than the track itself! I can hear the bass being played fine, but those thumping sounds.... Doesn’t ruin it for me at all, but it’s a little jarring. I only have a modest (yet growing) jazz collection, but I haven’t heard a sound like that thumping on anything else.. "

How shitty is this guy's setup that the bass on a Coltrane record sounds like that. I'm sure he's another mastering and pressing connoisseur.

There was a similar thread started by that old idiot "ubsman" where he asked what the clicking sound on Yes' Cinema was. It was the fucking hi hats.

This is why so much jazz ends up in the classifieds there. Yes-lovin' peopsons become mesmerized by the descriptions of warm, creamy holographic sound with ink-black backgrounds -- then they discover that they actually hate jazz.

Just like the guy who admitted he and his hi-fi lovin buddies were grooving to a Lee Morgan 45...played at 33rpm. Idiots.
