It's a strange obsession among white boomers to claim that various white rock/pop groups invented rap (I've heard people claim that Blondie did it first) which is bizarre.

Much better than the Monkees! Someone should put this video into that thread of theirs. Heads will explode.

Thinking about it though, I'm sure some SHiTes would say that the monkeys invented rap.

Especially as they absolutely despise rap. What's even better is when certain people bring rap into an argument as a point of comparison - usually in a negative way - even though it's quite clear that their knowledge of the genre is surface level at best and non-existent at worst.

They're like elderly Windows XP users who mock Apple computers because "there's no right mouse button." Their points of comparison go way back into the late 1980's when everything in their worlds was still all white all right.
What am I saying? They are elderly Windows XP users.
That's why I give Vidiot (who blocked me once there - heh) and Oatsdad a pass, because despite their frailties, they aren't actually terrified of today.

For people like that, there is always a point where they decide that they don't want to evolve any further. And then they get left behind.
That said, speaking of Windows, I purposefully bought a Windows 7 laptop even though 8 was the new standard at the time. I also waited until the last minute to upgrade to 10 but I was more concerned about the consequences of upgrading rather than actually moving to 10 (after upgrading, I spent a good two weeks dealing with tweaks and issues and fixes. Setting up a new laptop with 10 didn't even require that much work!)

For people like that, there is always a point where they decide that they don't want to evolve any further. And then they get left behind. To be fair, there's nothing really wrong with this per se. I think that most people have had periods of time where they're fully engaged and interested in current culture, which gradually subsides with time/age. It's when people are arrogant enough to assume that everyone should have lost interest in current culture at the same time as them that causes problems. Of course, there's younger people who seem hell-bent on not engaging with current culture at all and listen to their great-grandparents music, which is something that just confounds me.
