Apple store "rip offs", what gives. It seems like once a week now Apple stores are being "ripped off" by these groups of people marauding through the store. I mean can't Apple hire security guards to watch the store. This is not just a hardware problem, I think it's dangerous for customers. I don't want my wife exposed to this. It came on the news as I was writing this. This is too much, put the same guards as they have at my "pot" store, those guys will shoot you. Hire a couple of MMA guys and give them a thorough thrashing. We've had 3 stores recently and they just walk out with the stuff... What the heck is going on here? Just let them steal? This sounds like a mob theft situation. 12 people enter the store, create confusion and distractions, then grab what they can and get out of there. Not much you can do with a planned theft, in an open public store, that is also within the current mentality of how to handle this kind of situation. Besides, this is just the newest method the thieves have come up with. Change the methods of the stores, and the thieves will change in order to steal what they can. Haven't you heard? Crime is now legal, and law enforcement are the bad guys. I thought it was obvious it's a figure of speech. I've never read where anyone was shot at a pot store. I didn't say shoot somebody, don't put words in my mouth. I saw frightened people, some with kids in that news report showing these 5 guys running around in the store, yanking equipment out of it's restraints. If one of those guys runs into a little old lady, a kid, or just any customer and hurts them... The liability of one of those happening with be a lot more expensivethan some clerk pulling a muscle while chasing these fools. I can see the headlines now: Gang of thieves knocked over a woman holding a baby while escaping from the Apple store. It broke the babies neck Costco does that to stop Employee theft. I asked them and it's on the net. I guess they had problems with Employees not charging a friend or other employees. you know, just put the TV on by and out the door. I told the clerk at the door that the stuff is mine after I paid for it and I didn't want her rummaging through my stuff. Legally I was right and they said so, but they also said if I didn't let them look through my stuff, I was not welcome to shop there anymore. So they enjoyed a quick look through my things..

Larry Mc needs to read the Costco membership agreement he signed to become a member and shop there. Because it’s a club and you signed their terms to shop there, they actually can rummage through your bags on the way out. On the other hand, when Walmart tries to do this, they don’t have the right.
Also, I have to assume none of these people have actually worked retail. There’s very specific things you can and can not do with regards to loss prevention. The reason they don’t have roided up bouncers ready to tackle anyone they think picked an iPhone is they don’t want to get sued.
SHites may moan that crime is legal now or whatever bullshit, but it’s been that way since I worked at the mall thirty years ago. The scenario he’s describing isn’t new. That was exactly the way the thieves did it back then. They come in a group, create a distraction and take stuff while the staff is busy. That’s been in the loss prevention training of every retail job I’ve ever had.

Larry Mc is one of the biggest pieces of shit operating over there now. He posts passive-aggressive boomer shit and when he’s even slightly challenged he runs to the gorfs and complains. I’ve witnessed it on more than one occasion. Looking forward to the day I see the “In Memoriam” badge under his username.

I think I get the jest of your post and my wife agrees with you, but at this stage of my life there are just some things I won't put up with.. Don't steal from me, if you try, I will do whatever I can to stop you. 5 years ago I bought a gun, someone tried to break into my house, I could hear the patio sliding door downstairs being jimmied with, it's right below my bedroom. I realized then that as a heart patient in my 60's I couldn't protect my wife so I bought a 12 gauge shotgun. If someone breaks into my house I will shoot them. I did a lot of soul searching before i bought it. I would rather hug you than fight you but it's a different world we are living in now, you may only get one chance and then it's too late. I wouldn't compare eating and running with a group of thugs stealing computers out of stores while it's open with customers inside. They are putting the thieves well being over yours when they let them do that. As an employee at a hospital I had to assist security remove troublesome visitors out of the ER in order to keep the general public safe. Sooner or later people will get hurt and then they will try to do something about it. I don't want to get on a soap box but I think part of the reason so many of these people shoot the people they used to work with or shoot into crowds is because there is no consequence for how people talk and treat each other until it's escalated to ultimate violence. I read things that folks say to each other now that would have got you punched in the mouth before. I know that sounds "caveman" but think about it. A good example would be, well lets take me and my past. I grew up in a highly gang oriented town. We used to get into fights all the time, sometimes even with a friend. I was a minority in a mostly Mexican side of Salinas, Ca., so I was always on the look out. Anyway........some of those guys I used to fight became friends of mine as the Summer of Love permeated through northern California. My point is, people don't fight or disagree anymore, it's all or nothing, there's no middle ground. If you steal from a store they should be able legally kick your ass to stop you. The way it's going, someone is going to die. Could be a customer, a thief, employee, or general public. I would rather risk one employees health than everyone else's, it' should be part of their job. Sorry for rambling but it's the way I feel. By the way, I got my a$$ kicked a lot, I wasn't very good at fighting, becoming a Hippie was a Godsend to me. Time to turn in your hippie card, you intolerant, gun-toting POS.

The devices on display at an Apple Store don't work with standard software. They need a beacon to work. When they're far from the beacon, they automatically lock. They can still be sold for parts and some people may buy them and get tricked.

I always love the “times have changed” excuse for something that contradicts ones supposed core values. People can change, but fucking own it.

It's also hilarious how certain citizen gun owners are that they would suddenly turn into Charles Bronson if somebody broke in.
Larry old buddy, here's what would happen.
1. Guy breaks in. 2. Moments pass before you hear him. He's more than ready for you. 3. Your gun is in the other room. If you try to get it and use it, you're far more likely to shoot yourself than anyone else. 4. If you confront him, he pounds the shit out of you. 5. He steals your gun.

If crime is now legal, why do they even have law enforcement guys? Someone has to kill black people.
