Mike Love to be inducted to the Songwriters Hall of FameHe should be in the ROBBERY Hall of Fame for STEALING the Beach Boys brand from Brian! Brian has never been in the proper mental state to make those decisions and Mike Love pounced!! When they had the reunion a few years back Brian expected and wanted to continue but Mike makes more money running the brand into the ground with his "Mike Love Band" pretends to be the Beach Boys thing.. I don't mind him, but it devalues the idea of the songwriter hall of Fame. He's not a songwriter, he's a lyricist who makes cosmetic changes to already existing songs. He's not a Taupin who writers songs and others add the music to it, but someone who suggest hooks and lines for songs not quite finished. Sometimes these are great and well deserving of the co-credit, but not really deserving of the Hall of Fame. I'm sorry but as a songwriter myself I feel offended by this. Even in his tweet he's not reacting as a songwriter: he mentions the 150 shows he perform but not the songs he 'wrote'. A songwriter doesn't really care about performing; he writes songs... Thanks for posting this because this, Summer In Paradise and the bulk of his solo output are all spot on indicators that Mike Love hasn't a clue to what it takes to compose acceptable music whatsoever. Here's a clown that makes a video of himself rubbing mineral oil over his body, has 5 ex-wives with some of them beaten by him, sues his bandmates, makes an incredibly embarrassing speech at the R&R HOF, and treats the man, who made him rich beyond his wildest dreams, with absolutely no respect. And the SHOF wants to embrace the most untalented member of the band?? What about Dennis or Carl who wrote songs worthy enough to actually be honored before some ungrateful goldbricker gets the nod?? If the SHOF wants to water down it's credibility by honoring this fool, by all means do so and you'll have egg on your collective faces for doing so. From Brian’s autobiography, didn’t Mike boast about making a 14inch turd? It's interesting how so much hate is allowed on these forums to "certain" artists. Now...if this were a Yoko thread, many of these posts would get deleted, lol. Heck, the thread would probably be shut down.

If you look close enough, you'll be able to see the boner oldsurferdude has for Mike Love that he's thinly disguising with his supposed hatred. You can almost write a book based on his obsession.

Mike Love to be inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame I would think that even those pinheads that pass for moderators over there would tire of Rob spinning EVERY thread he's in into that tired self-promotion of his pitiable "band."

I get so fucking tired of Rob's relentless self-promotion for his shitty events.
As an aside, I once had to sing Little St. Nick live on stage and learnt the guitar part and Mike's vocal part (including the 'he don't miss no one' hook) in 15 minutes on the afternoon before the show. Does he not realise that so few people give two shits about the accuracy of a guitar part from 56 years ago that he might as well just wing it? Or is he that much of a lousy player that it'll take him a month to learn something so simple?

“The Einstein Alley Musicians Collaborative (EAMC) under the musical direction of Rob Freeman (of The Beagles) present an evening of “Rock & Soul” Christmas music, including holiday hits from Phil Spector’s “A Christmas Gift For You” album (featuring The Ronettes & Darlene Love) along with seasonal selections by The Beach Boys, Beatles, Kinks, Mariah Carey, Joan Osborne, Stevie Wonder and more. Come dance and sing along to songs you know and love – because all we want for Christmas is you!
Bring your kids to this family-friendly event and we will invite them up to join in our finale!”
Well at least Devoe will be looking forward to this.

The dude made a 14” turd. I’d vote him in on that alone.

He could rehearse for a year and it wouldn't make any difference. It will sound like shit regardless. And yes, he'll throw in his own "tasteful improvisations" that will sound like they were intended for a completely different song.

Brian Wilson Greatest Hits Live Tour - Long Beach, CA - 08/29/21Saw this show last night at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center Terrace Theatre...probably my 6th time seeing Brian solo live. The venue is small (maybe 3000 seats) and very cozy. An intimate show experience for sure. With our musical heroes dropping like flies lately, I'm so glad I got to see him once more. I went in with low expectations because he'd been off the road for 2 years and, quite frankly, he never seemed that comfy on stage even going back to the earliest Pet Sounds shows or the Roxy show. Also, I was excited to see Al & Matt Jardine, and Blondie in the fold. They started out with a bang doing "California Girls", "I Get Around", etc. They threw in some special songs in celebration of the new Feel Flows set. I was ecstatic when Blondie sang "Feel Flows", "Long Promised Road", and "Sail On, Sailor". Blondie was a highlight as he wailed on his guitar for a couple of blistering extended solos! At that point I started gushing to my girlfriend about Sunflower and she couldn’t have a given a **** less as I explained the band’s lesser-known rebound in the 70’s.Brian was fairly well present for most of the show, although typically perfunctory. His voice was in surprisingly good shape, and well augmented by the band's usual pitch perfect background singing. He did appear to tune out for a few songs in the middle of the set and weirdly started singing the first line of "Sail On, Sailor" but then seemed surprised when Blondie took over. Wasn't sure what to make of that. Matt Jardine has completely taken over the "Don’t Worry Baby" performance and does so flawlessly. It was roughly a 1.5 hour show with all the usual numbers to close it out ("Do It Again" was an absolute highlight of the evening"). The audience was very engaged and those in the lower level (I was in the balcony with a great view BTW) danced and sang the show out. Once the frenzy cooled down, he played "Love and Mercy" which was as touching as ever. Overall this show far exceeded my expectations and I was happy to have been there.
