There seem to be many catchphrases that the SHites (inadvertently) coin, which are subsequently lampooned here. In time, the original poats seem to get forgotten, lost, or deleted, which makes it had to figure out how the terms got started in the first place. Case in point, “it’s like a warm creamy pudding in my mouth” gets a lot of milage at Stereo Central. It’s ridiculous and totally SHitey, so I thought it might good to catalog the terms and give credit to the SHites who originally created them. A SH.tv search turned up this poat from Sep. 9, 2009: Let me just chime in for a moment to say that on the drive home tonight I felt more enveloped into the richness of For No One like I hadn't ever before. It's like a warm creamy pudding in my mouth. I'm talking about the stereo version. I'm enjoying this one quite a bit. Is this ground zero for this ridiculous description? What are the actual beginnings for the SHites’ Greatest Hits? (And while we’re at it, what are origins of “poat” and “STeVE”. I assume they’re Gnrat-isms, but I just wanted to know for sure.)

I'm pretty sure STeVE came about after the infamous 10 sealed copies of the SMiLE box to give away never materialized and flushed down the memory hole.

Poat is most definitely a Gtran-ism. Peopson as the singular form of people is still my favorite though.

He has actually used both terms himself in a self-mocking manner over at that place. Although he still has spells of insanity, he has become a lot easier to take over the years. Probably because compared to the competition over there he is the voice of sanity.

I believe the phrase "trumps, trounces and wipes the floor with" in comparing different masterings originated with Jeff "Belligerent Dickhead" Carney. Who was the first "ear bleeder"?

Not having any luck finding that, but IIRC, it went from pinned at the top of the forum to memory hole and any inquiries were sanitized promptly. It's probably my fave STeVE gaslighting. It's not like this was some claim he made in an obscure interview. This was BIG NEWS and at the time everyone was all a'twitter about SMiLE. It was a "reply to this thread to be entered" deal and probably every account attached to a real person did.

Jamie C., 12/6/07: Oh man. I am literally shaking and crying. So wrong, way too young. I was not prepared for this.
Michael, 10/7/04: I get teary eyed when I hear the Dex "You Can't Do That" and just about all the rest of the early American Beatles LP's...memories flood my mind with bliss...
Steve Hoffman, 3/26/06: Has anyone here ever personally heard vintage wire? If so, what does it sound like compared to modern? If you have NOT made the comparison, YAP UP.
Dave, 3/14/06: It is impossible for a tape to hold the compression levels of these treble boosted MFSL's like Something/Anything. The metal particulate on the tape would shatter and all you'd hear is distortion if even that.

I think the metal particulate in NightGoof’s brain shattered years ago.

As usual, a bunch of forum members were excitedly taking about the original SMiLE upcoming releases in a fairly interesting thread free of flaming or jokes about Mike Love or whatever. And of course, the conversation was NOT about Hoffman. So like a dick, he deleted the original thread and started his own APPROVED thread.

Hi, first time poster (just registered after googling SMiLE info and came upon the site). Anyone know where the thread went with all the press release links? It was there before I registered, and now it's gone. Am I not searching in the right place? If anyone could direct me to that other thread, I'd greatly appreciate it. Oh, and I might be a first time poster, but I am a long time SMiLE devotee (hence what I consider proper lower case/upper case spelling)!

Then there is the meme about John singing the "backwards" part of Rain:
Yes, 42 years ago Sir George Martin told STeVE this was the real scoop. That disturbed individual called STeVE out about it immediately.

Who coined the terms Smiley face EQ and Midrange suck-out? Were these Night-goofisms as well?
