I'm not saying he's not an idiot, but I thought he put Coltrane in as a way of making fun of the Fela Kuti option in the fan vote.

NYD and Todd; most of the rest are the usual faux-worthy and/or tokenistic inclusions. Still meaningless - No Rory Gallagher or Warren Zevon All women this year... or just stop. It's a sausage fest Because getting into the R&RHOF because you're a woman is laudable. ? One day it's "gender doesn't matter." Next day it's "you're whatever gender you wanna be." Next day it's "pick all women!" Until Zevon is in, they can shove it up their ass sideways. Are you forgetting that in 2014 Kate Bush returned to the stage after a 35-year absence to absolutely rave reviews, a 22-date artist residency that sold out all dates in 15 minutes? She doesn't like flying, but she does when she needs to (Vickie and me met her plane when she came to New York to promote Hounds of Love.) Get Todd in there already, and The Monkees please! What? Iron Maiden are not IN? They have to compete with the likes of Mary J. Blige? This "Hall Of Fame" is a joke... (as most such institutions are, to be frank) The headset microphone she wore so she could dance and sing at the same time was custom made out of a wire coat hanger. It can't be overemphasized just how groundbreaking the Tour of Life (as it was called) truly was. She had different characters and costumes for different songs - Bowie had Ziggy, but he was Ziggy throughout the concert. Kate, by the way, was at that last Ziggy stardust show at the Hammersmith Odeon, where the concert video for the Tour of Life was filmed. That same theater (now called the Hammersmith Apollo) was where she held the residency for Before The Dawn, although tragically that concert film has not been released. My other favorite, Todd Rundgren, should be inducted using the same "non-performer" category they used to induct Nile Rodgers. Even though Todd is an amazing performer, and should have been far more well-known and popular, his impact on music has been so wide-ranging that it is most fair to acknowledge him that way. For instance, he produced the first album by the New York Dolls (one CREEM writer joked that he bought them their first tube of mascara.) He produced artists as diverse as Hall & Oates and Bad Brains. As a multi-instrumentalist he kept appearing on the albums that he produced. Seriously, this is the person who played the guitar on Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell, the marimba on Psychedelic Furs Love My Way and the freaking cowbell on Grand Funk's We're An American Band! When I hear 'rock and roll' I immediately think of the Stones, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly. And, of course, Dionne Warwick. Sure hope up-and-coming "Rockers" Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B and/or Lizzo induct Mary J. Blige! Where's Andy Williams and Throbbing Gristle? Cause I'd like to see them perform together at the induction ceremony, as they both exemplify Rock and Roll.

Turd played marimba on "Love My Way"? Why hasn't this come up every fucking day for the last ten years from this creepy buffoon?

Not sure which is more tedious and predictable, the moaning about who should be in the hall of fame or DeVoe in general.
How many years has he been on there whining on / lecturing people about Todd now? As if everyone needs to be told that he produced the New York Dolls. He's on the first page of this thread in 2017, and is there again. FFS man get yourself a new hobby that doesn't involve underage kids, watching movies, or your two other obsessions.

It's actually called the Eventim Apollo now but unless you're a cunt, it's still Hammersmith Odeon!

I'm thinking of poating a pic of it now and sending it to that forum - it's now some modern evangelist / born again Christian church or something.
