Patrick Bateman (American Pyscho)'s favourite group was Huey Lewis and the News. His hero was Donald Trump!

Karen Carpenter was a mediocre drummer. That is the reason her brother wouldn't allow her to play on the records.
Have Huey Lewis and The News made a record since 1985? Don't answer that. I don't care.

I'll see your Karen Carpenter & Paul McCartney on drums,
and raise you Sheila E. and Prince.
(Sorry, but after that white-bread Carpenters stuff, a good palate cleansing is in order...)

Shit. I've never really listened to Prince beyond the hits my older sister would listen to in the eighties when I was a kid. Maybe I should, because that is one hell of a live show, and an insanely tight band.

Yeah, man, Prince fucking killed it live. Always a great band.

Perhaps I misspoke. She wasn't a totally mediocre drummer. She was good at showboating for a few minutes during a show, probably while whizzing her tits off on The Substances. She was still considered inadequate to play on her own records, though.

That may have more to do with her brothers' insecurities and pettiness, though.

Or maybe it was just because Hal Blaine was available and studio time is expensive.
The Prince clips have been a revelation. I never paid him much attention, mainly because I'm allergic to neon, but he really was a cut above.

If Karen had lived, I'm pretty certain Prince would have hired her to do the rap on Alphabet St.

The Bestles sang show tines and that did not disqualifythem. The Carpenters chose material from Leon Russell, Burt Bacharach, Brian Wilson and Carole King, all PC rock figures.
