So Steve apparently thinks the pinned photo thread is going to attract a bunch of new members. This is why we see him also pinning equipment profile reminders and a big dumb welcome thread. I guess the idea is the photos show up on teh googles, this leads more people to Steve's place and then this brings more VigLink bux for Steve. Idiot.

"Happy new year, hello and welcome, I'm glad to see you here (so's my bank balance), thanks for joining. We have been here since way back in 2002, always commercial free with over 80,000 dues paying members (just kidding, it's free, apart from donations time).
This is primarily an Audiofool Music Forum, which means we like to bitch and complain about the sound quality of our favorite music (especially if not remastered by me) and how we can find the best sounding/most expensive audiofool version of what we love to listen to (which is usually my masterings).
Lurkers, what are you waiting for? Register and participate!
When you register, please fill out your profile as completely as you can so we (and any potential advertisers/sponsors) can get to know you. We figure if you fill your profile out, you are serious about participating here with us and want to stick around for a while. When it asks you for "location" don't put "here, there and everywhere" or "USA" or "Earth" or "Mordor". Put your hometown, please (makes things easier for any potential advertisers/sponsors). If you are going to discuss music sound quality, etc. please fill out your gear profile as well so we can get a faint idea of where you're coming from and we can take the piss about how shit your system is while ours are soooo much more expensive it gives us the right to do so, much appreciated.
It would be nice if you could put your real name (first is fine) in your signature line."
ps: "Please don't mention the Buddy Holly mastertapes/MCA "misunderstanding" or The Pretenders debut..."

Or The Yes Album or The Beatles Remastered CDs. Also the AF Cars Heartbeat City. Or DCC almost getting to reissue The Beatles catalog, that's still a sore spot, bucko. Any mention of these topics will be grounds for immediate termination.

Or his age. Don't remind him of his real age, bucko.
Must be fun when he's with his kids and someone asks him about his nice grandkids.

I'm probably a good 20 years younger than Hoofy (if we're guessing his age at late 60's/early 70's) and some my grandkids are much older than his kids. However, I still get asked if I'm their dad, cos I'm such a well-preserved fucker

SH Forums giveaway: The Byrds YOUNGER THAN YESTERDAY test disk, flat transfer, mono Audio Fidelity
You’ll find this interesting and cool. This is the original flat transfer test disk that Stephen Marsh made from the mono tapes on THE BYRDS "Younger Than Yesterday." The end result was the Audio Fidelity digital version of the MONO LP mix of this classic album. It came out well. This is a work part for pre-production.
We used the correct full-track head stack, and there are two versions of the album on this disk. First, the Columbia "Hollywood tape" and second, the Columbia "New York tape."
Both are first generation, one made for east coast cutting, the other for west coast. I chose this and that from both tapes for the final Audio Fidelity digital version of the mono album depending on "wear spots" on each of the reels.
I now have no use for this whatsoever, maybe one of you will find it interesting? It's truly one of a kind in the entire world. Just a note that the sound is unmastered and you might find it not to your liking.. Still, good to have, especially if you're a collector.
If you want to win this, post on this thread, moderators may enter. I'm not sure how many people would be interested in something like this but we'll find out, I guess..
The system will pick a random winner in a few weeks. THIS IS A TRUE ONE OF A KIND ITEM.
Good luck to all! Steve Hoffman, Yesterday at 6:26 PM

Actually, it would be a pretty cool relic to have. Imagine being able to own the physical manifestation of Audio Fidelity’s scheme to keep STeVE‘s grabby fingers away from the original master tapes, but still allow him to feel like he was participating. Kinda like this:

So is this another one of those contests that gets dropped and never mentioned again, or is Hoofy going to pick one of his sock puppets as the winner?
