Fucking Bezos! Buying mansions instead of starting up a lacquer plant!

I'm over 55 and I don't care if "product" (I think he means records, right?) is AAA and lacquered. I just like records.

They hate something on record because it was digital and not AAA. The same damn music they have bought for 60 years (Beatles) and whine how they want remasters one vinyl. They get it and then decide they hate it unheard because someone said it was from digital sources. Then when someone says they don’t care and they enjoy it the SHiTes pile on that poor slob for liking it. It’s a mental illness, I don’t know how else to describe it.

What’s really funny is when I see this kind of talk from some “hipster” who the SHites would hate.

So last night I felt like playing Black Sabbath Vol 4 on the turntable. Put the needle down and it goes sliding across the record. WTF. Try another record. Same thing. Look at the stylus. Bent to fuck. I think I did it with the Swiffer a few weeks back when I was dusting.
Moral of the story. Vinyl is a pain in the ass.

What are you, a psychopath???

That'll teach you to use a Swiffer. I only dust with a wool rag made from the old wool rags my grandmother used. I've never bent a stylus.

I'm almost catalog on Sabbath. Except the Tony Martin era. That's trash AOR. Is it an original press 1973 issue with the olive label or a palm tree label? Okay, I'm done being a smart ass now.

I have my turntable in a clean room. Dust and grime are an enemy of the sustainable arts.

I'm like STeVE with Claus, I always have my record player served by a fluffer, not a Swiffer.

Sure, if you think vinyl is fun, have at it, but don't try to tell me that it is the height of sonic nirvana. It isn't. I am fond of the lo-fi sound and aesthetics of old boomboxes. I find that fun, but I do not for one second kid myself that it is anything other than what it is. [/div][/quote] That is just it, shouldn’t it all be fun? Whatever music someone is into it doesn’t matter, you should be able to have fun with it. These people have taken that to an entirely different level to where their lives revolve around it. I have a blast buying used records and listening to them. I also have a blast streaming music or breaking out the old boombox tape deck and playing some cassettes I have left from when I was growing up. If you need or want any joy sucked out of anything in life just turn to Steve Hoffman’s Forum.

Like politics, I lay the blame solely at the feet of people who treat bands (and political parties) as football teams to be cheered and supported, whilst trashing and dismissing any rivals.
Likewise, anyone who uses statistics (music sold, DR numbers, whatever) in music to define superiority clearly doesn’t get it.

It’s such a weird place as it’s for music fans who have such a limited scope of music. It’s a world where all concerts are triple digit figures for tickets because they legitimately have no idea great bands can play bars and clubs and you can see them virtually every night of the week. Where Andy Gill’s death becomes a thread to poat inexplicable numbers of how his albums sounded in various remasters. Pop music is dismissed out of hand entirely, but record sales and album charts in Germany are used to show the continued supremacy of rock. A moron like schnitzerphilip drones on and on about having the history of recorded music in his pocket for $10 a month and, thanks to algorithms, his biggest music discovery of the last year was Boz Scaggs.
