I’m actually feeling a bit hopeful. I think that’s what it is anyway, who knows. It’s been a long time.

Isn’t it about time to change the title of this thread? Hmmm? Done. And very satisfying it was, too.

Lessee... – Rejoin the Paris Accord.... check! – Rejoin the W.H.O.... check! – Rescind the Muslim ban.... check! – Revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.... check! – Require masks at all federal buildings & properties.... check! Not a bad day’s work! Trump must be fuming, and without Twitter to vent on, the hue on his face likely matches one of his ridiculous neckties.

And let’s not forget about Madam Vice President Kamala Harris! Yes! There was so much positive input, it was almost like sensory overload. While she is no stranger to me, phenomenally talented Amanda Gorman's recitation today of her The Hill We Climb knocked me out.

Really, I'm just trying to bask in the moment. The difference is, I don't look to Joe Biden to be my Savior. He is human and he will say and do things I disagree with. I will poke fun at him. I will post funny memes about him. The fact that I've seen people say "Well, if we're playing by the rules, 400,000 have died on Biden's watch" tells me that work needs to be done for mental health in this country.
I think the best part (aside from that punk bitch slithering away like the whiny little punk bitch he is) was telling my half-Jewish stepdaughters that they could be just like Kamala Harris if that's where they want to be. No more president pussygrabber, demeaning and insulting left and right.
I've seen other folks here talk about their cautious optimism. I'm the same way. I don't have to wake up tomorrow morning and wonder what fresh hell awaits. And now my girls have someone to look up to. That makes it even better.
I wonder what that fat, useless orange fuck is doing right now.

Biden is a moderate Democrat. Fairly useless in ordinary times. But these are not ordinary times. Compared to He Whose Fat Ass Is Now in Florida, he's FDR.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. The fact that these are not ordinary times means we really DO need an FDR type and Biden is not it, at least based on what we know so far. When Biden cancels student debt, enacts Medicare for All during a pandemic, ends the wars, gets us a Green New Deal, well, then you may be on to something. I think the fact that we're so used to a Fascist being in office, that a guy in the middle (barely) seems further to the left than he actually is. I'm happy that Trump is out of office and I'm happy everyone else is feeling a sense of relief, but no way is everything going to be "normal" again any time soon. To his credit, Biden has his work cut out for him and I hope he doesn't disappoint. But the guy is a corporate neo-Liberal through and through, hardly an FDR type, IMO.

So, where does Biden stand in contrast to Obama? I'm a bit ignorant of the differences in democrats. My brother was saying he was to the left of Obama, which wasn't meant as anegative.

I don't think Biden is very left but present circumstances give the Democrats a chance to govern more "left"-wise than Obama chose to, if they take the opportunity. I'm expecting some "purple"-state cowards to blow the chance.

The bar is so low at this point. To have even a mediocre President now puts a spring in my step.
