It's so weird how many people there obsess over a particular artist. There's probably only a handful of well rounded, intelligent music fans with diverse tastes.
Is it an Aspy thing?

Like Dan Fogelberg, these bozos have me wondering if there's more to Ronstadt than I know. I'm only really familiar with her '70's covers and they seem pretty bland and soulless to me. I do like "Different Drum" because of NEZ.

I do like "Different Drum" because of NEZ. I went down that route and ended up owning nine Linda Ronstadt LPs after finding them pennies. None of them are amazing, but there are one or two really good songs on each. The first one Hand Sown...Home Grown is the best because she sings like she's in a honky tonk and there's some high-energy country covers. After that she started covering soft west-coast ballads and white soul (and then Elvis Costello with disastrous results - Alison with a sax solo!) and everything goes limp.

I actually like a lot of her stuff, and from her records I discovered Warren Zevon, whose music I now really love. She also seems like a pretty decent person and with her politics, I’m surprised the SHites don’t want her burnt at the stake.

I don't think her voice is bland - she was a great singer, but she wasn't a songwriter, so always relied on other people's stuff. I wonder how often other people made the decisions about what she was going to put on her records. I think she was managed by that Peter Asher guy (Peter and fucking Gordon). It's all very LA 70s going on AOR.
At least she did sometimes choose interesting material, but could never imagine her - 'all strung out on heroin, on the outskirts of town'.

SHiTEs would hate her, but they hit puberty looking at her nips on her album covers, so they can't bring themselves to.

The production/engineering and her voice on that album are superb. The music is fairly bland though, even the songs with Aaron Neville. It's the one I always use to show off my Marshall bluetooth speaker to friends. They're always amazed at the soundstage and warmth compared to something like Inflammable Material by the Stiff Little Fingers...

But it sure is a lot more fun.

I would, but my speaker is a bit of a suspect device.

Same with Joni Mitchell, these pervo Boomer SHiTEs don't love her for her music, they love her for the For The Roses gatefold.
