Why? Just because. It's not a commercial or anything. I don't even know why you'd think a thing like that.
I received my first new БОСТОК АМФИБИЯ (Vostok Amphibia) Diver ("Scuba Dude") watch a few days ago..
You need a watch? You need a cheap but good watch?
I received my first new БОСТОК АМФИБИЯ (Vostok Amphibia) Diver ("Scuba Dude") watch a few days ago ( case and model #420380) from Mother Russia and I am amazed that it is keeping such good time. It hasn't lost more than a few seconds a day. Just as good as my Rolex certified Chronometers. I paid $60.00 for this watch, new.
First created by the two designers, Mikhail Novikov and Vera Belova 50 years ago and is still popular today; perhaps even more popular now, outside of Russia, than it has ever been.
It is a true 'diver' watch and is rated at 200M water resistance; a claim which has been proven true by several Vostok fans using pressure testing equipment.
Well made gaskets, screw-down crown, two-piece screw-down caseback and a thick domed crystal give the Amphibia it's water resistant quality.
The crystal is 3mm thick domed lucite / acrylic and although not as scratch resistant as mineral glass, it can be easily polished to remove scratches.
The bezels help protect the crystal.
The pic on my arm looks weird because the face still has the protective coating on it..
Impressed with the Russian quality of this fun watch and pleased that the 420 style 39mm case looked just right. I can't stand huge watches, this one is just the right size. I have another three Amphibia divers coming. My eldest can't wait!
2416B calibre, Vostok has been making this same engine since the 1970's. It's basic but good-basic. Automatic, date, etc. Works very well. Made by JSC Chistopol Watch Factory Vostok.

I ordered a few more as well, yet to arrive. The Wes Anderson designed special "Zissou", and another "Scuba Dude" diver. My eldest kid got me into these. $60-$75 each.. Amazing.
