It’s a very well-made album - I’m a fan of Langer & Winstanley’s production (Madness, Deaf School, XTC etc) so I haven’t ever thought it needs revisiting.
It doesn’t quite surprise me there’s a remix though. Kevin Rowland once put out a remaster of Don’t Stand Me Down, then put out another one a couple of years later because he was bothered by the use of noise reduction that barely anyone else noticed.
What surprises me is that he was absolutely adamant on the last tour (when they played their new album as a theatrical piece, complete with weeping femme fatale and onstage fisticuffs) that anyone who came to a Dexys gig expecting to hear Come On Eileen and all the dungaree hits was an idiot and that all that stuff was cringeworthy. I guess he’s mellowed a bit.

I guess he’s mellowed a bit. I think it's a way of recycling material while making it seem like they're doing / consumer something significantly different with it. I've lost track of how many attempts to relaunch Don't Stand Me Down there have been. All three of their initial 80s albums were great. I met Rowland once, and he told me that he thought the 3rd one as going to be his the Dark Side of the Moon for the 80s. I imagine the commercial failure of that hit him hard.

There's something in my eyes You know it happens every time I think about the love That I thought would save me
It's not a big stretch to picture many a SHite shedding a tear into their bourbon glass sitting back with Croce.

Power Set up for ungrounded outlets (rental apartment) "Excuse me, Mr. Landlord. Would you be so kind as to completely rewire my apartment with audiophile-grade wiring, power conditioners and hospital-grade outlets? I'm hearing a distinct lack of blackness to the background when listening to my Marshall Tucker Band cee dees."

Rolling Stone: 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (2021).
You know it's going to be a bunch of know-nothings, and idiots like rjp complaining that their boomer rock favourite isn't higher.
