The Stones already gave a private show for a French entrepreneur in 2012, so when Charlie and Keith were still alive. The same guy also paid for concerts by the likes of Lou Reed and Neil Young, the irony being that his asset management firm was an investor in Monsanto.

I bet if the Stones were playing a command performance for ol' dipshit Donnie, he'd have no qualms with it.

Why do they say "play music"?
It sounds like something a child does.
An artist paints a picture, a writer writes a book, but a musician plays music. They play guitar or drums.
Was this something those angry old men with crew cuts started when Elvis came on the scene? I can't picture anyone saying Mozart plays music.
Seems demeaning. I was suitably outraged when I thought of this, but it only lasted a second, and now I'm just curious.

Almost as insufferable is Rose River Bear's attempt to analyse Fade into you. Another dime store musicologist? I guess he's been watching Rick Beato (yawn) and is trying to do the same.

Oh he's one of THOSE. Says something stupid or uncalled for and he jumps into "PC" and "safe space" and how he's a MAN'S MAN. Instead of just saying "Hey, sorry guys, let's move on. My bad". I really wish him and his ilk wound just jump in front of a fuckin' speeding truck.

He's given me a new appreciation for the song. Very clever of the band, as he points out, to put the final chorus at the END of the song, instead of say, a third of the way through. That final chorus begins at 3:58, which is one of my personal favorite times in a song. And then to fade it out after that final chorus. Lesser bands would have faded the song in the first minute. I'm also impressed that it's a gradual fade, as he wisely notes. You can always recognize a great song by the way it fades gradually, instead of abruptly and awkwardly.
He's insightful to point out how "the song's chords get exposed right out" at the start of the song. No eight-minute Floyd-ian ambient sound collage here, bub. No "rap skit" as intro. No, instead the band just decides to start playing the chords of the song right at the beginning; it's genius, really. I bet the other band members needed a lot of convincing to try that novel approach.
