I had planned on taking a longer hiatus from here as I'm on extended vacation in Jamaica but I received a couple of very nice personal messages asking that I return soon and so I checked in and found that this thread was active.Just when I thought I was out they pulled me back in!
Anyway....I agree about your Linda "water" vocal and would add the always annoying "butter pie" bit.
I liked Linda but...there's limits.
Glad to be back.

Didn't see this limited series on its first go round and am only watching it now.I would have thought I had had my fill of this only to find I'm enjoying it very much.
The casting is good (although John Travolta makes for a somewhat strange Robert Shapiro) and it's well paced.
Only four ( of ten) episodes in but I'll be bingeing the rest in a couple of days.

Not a big fan of ' Friends' but have watched several episodes and one I recall had Tyler in it delivering a great line....Chandler is at the coffee shop and some guy is there with his 'junk' hanging out. Chandler doesn't know what to do or say. He's in a quandary. All he can do is stare.
Gunther comes by and tells the guy :" Let's put the mouse back in the house, shall we?"
R.I.P.

In all seriousness, the best Batman movie is ' Batman The Movie' , the 1966 film starring Adam West. There is no good 'modern' Batman movie. They are all flawed in major ways.

I remember some interview where one of the Gallagher brothers was asked what he thought of the press comparing his band to Blur saying Oasis was The Beatles to Blur's Rolling Stones. Gallagher replied : "We are The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Blur is The Monkees"

Phil Everly tells the tale of a time he and Don were playing somewhere and Holly was on the same bill. After the show Phil was out and about whatever town they were in and was confronted by some unfriendly locals. In a flash, he says, Holly appeared out of nowhere ready to rip it up with one and all. The local toughs took a powder.
Another great Holly story is related by Little Richard but is not family-appropriate.
But if you know it it's really memorable and unforgettable.

Always feel compelled to tell this story on Stevie Nicks threads....Years ago Stevie got it in her head that she wanted to join Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. She wasn't looking at headlining, just wanted to be in the group. You know, singing and some percussion playing.
She met Petty for lunch one day to lay this on him.
He laconically told her in that drawl of his that there were no girls in The Heartbreakers.

I was stunned when I found out it's actually Keith on the rumbling bass of ' Live With Me'.Wildest cat from montana said:
Tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of this album. But here's the thing...have you ever heard it?
Everybody , and by everybody I mean every man, woman and child on the planet , is familiar with the truly iconic title track. Gigantic hit world-wide that has achieved legendary status and rightfully so. It's a classic in every sense of the word.
And! The album spawned another good-sized hit with ' Vincent' .
Other than that though I was hard pressed looking at the tracklist on the CD recently acquired at my local thrift shop to recall any other song on the album.
It dawned on me that it was possible I hadn't ever heard the album but this seemed unlikely as I remember buying it sometime in the early 70s.
Gave it a quick listen.
Only things I recognized were ' Vincent' and the title track so " I started singing : Bye bye Miss American Pie, drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry..."

It was Johnny's birthday a couple of weeks ago so...There was a thread/poll kicking around some time ago about his singlesand if I recall correctly ' Instant Karma' emerged as the clear winner and rightly so.
But..is that your favourite Lennon solo song ?
It's certainly one of mine but lately I'm really digging 'Isolation'

As an album 'Driving Rain' would make a good EP.Wildest cat from montana said:
Knew a guy who did the same.He put ' The End' at the beginning. He thought it was cool and clever.

Don't know about the kids in this movie but everybody else in this movie was better in some other movie.Wildest cat from montana said:
'The 'Simpsons' never jumped the shark.Maybe it's not the show it used to be but what does that mean anyway?
Watched a few recent episodes not too long ago and had a laugh at them.

In his book Keith Richard's talks about Jagger's harmonica playing. He considers him a great player but says he's reluctant to play it on contemporary songs as he considers it somewhat old-fashioned.Wildest cat from montana said:
I've seen this. It's called ' Snodgress' and it's fairly good.As you say it depicts Lennon in an alternate ( across the) universe where he quit The Beatles very early on. He is now middle-aged, miserable, cynical, sarcastic and unpleasant and everyone thinks he's an ******* which he is.
On YouTube and recommended.

Always liked this song. Heard it on the radio back in '70 and rushed out to get the 45. Played it plenty." Outside the law's a-coming / I'm scared and tired of runnin' "

Didn't get this album until after I got 'All The Young Dudes'. Just wasn't aware of it. Never saw it anywhere, nobody I knew had it.At first I assumed it probably just wasn't very good.
Wrong!
This is a terrific album and a great debut.

Is ' Dear Yoko' a sequel to ' Oh Yoko' or is it a separate entity in ongoing odes to his little flower princess?
