I scrolled down that page a bit. Some very funny content! A few samples: “I haven't worked since Audio Fidelity closed. But let's face it, I never really worked even when they were open. I was always one chaperone away from getting arrested for loitering at Stephen Marsh Mastering.” “A flat transfer CD mastering by me sourced from another CD and mastered by Stephen Marsh means a job well done.” “The inheritance money is coming in slower than usual and Marshal Blunderstone closed another label and we have a live-in maid and multiple children to pay for. If anybody has ANYTHING they want mastered please let me know. I now specialize in mastering voicemail. HMU” “I've learned a LOT from Trump: - Do bad thing. - deny bad thing. - yell FAKE NEWS! about bad thing. - admit bad thing. - pretend bad thing isn't bad. Here goes: - I did *NOT* steal Steely Dan's AJA master tapes. - Any news about me keeping any master tapes in my basement is FAKENEWS#hashatg. - So what if I was the last person to have the original master tape for Steely Dan's AJA and decided to keep it in my personal collection? - I gave you a CD with a Genuine Gold Bypass Switch Flat Transfer Remaster™ back in the 1980s? Breath Of Life, dude-o's. BREATH OF LIFE™!!!! What more do you want?” And many more!

Records of many lawsuits filed in the U.S. are public. I am not an attorney and can not speak to the merits or lack thereof of the lawsuit filed against Jamie Tate by Morada Music/Audio Fidelity with any legal expertise, but my understanding (not informed by a law degree or time spent at a law school) is that Morada Music sued Jamie Tate for libelous postings on the internet that maintained certain Audio Fidelity CDs were mastered (by one "Steve Hoffman") from previously-released CDs as sources and involved doing no more than pressing a "play" button. Since Mr. Tate was not present when Mr. Hoffman mastered these CDs, how could Mr. Tate have known for a fact what Mr. Steve Hoffman did or did not do and with what sources?
Now I'm no legal expert (have I mentioned that?), but my opinion (and it is merely that, my opinion) is that the lawsuit filed against Mr. Jamie Tate by M/AF did not so much refute Mr. Tate's claims as it identified legalistic arguments that made him regret that he had ever written less-than-admiring posts about the M/AF remastered CDs so admired by the many satisfied customers on the Steve Hoffman Audio Forums.
But that is just my opinion.

Lawyers obviously want that you have to declare yourself a legal non-expert to give a closed-shop gravitas to their own profesional status, but in reality they are no more of an authority than you when it comes to the ability to construct a logical argument. They know all the jargon, which is a way of keeping others away and suistaining their own incomes. Most of it is about money and power, and whoever has it over those that don't. It's not really about who is right.

And just to add, there are fairly clear rules as to what happens at the outcome of a case. But if a deal or settlement is reached, the terms can be absolutely batshit, spiteful, and vindictive.

Indeed. Some lawsuits use such flimsy logic that they're designed merely to intimidate rather than to go to court. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened had the case against Jamie Tate actually gone to court.

Interesting to see that Marsha's partner for AF and this endeavor (launched in 2016 or 2017) is the guy from the Paul Mitchell hair care products. The "About" section may not be that recent, given that the entry brags of his work with Gorbachev and Robert Kennedy Jr.

Picturing STeVE on the stand, broadcast by Court TV. He'd perjure himself so badly that the judge would have no choice but to jail him.

Rule 1: Whatever STeVE says is bullshit.
Rule 2: When in doubt, refer to Rule 1.

So far the best STeVe has given them has been some leftover hair from Oats.

The lawsuit was based around defamation. I can't imagine that holding water knowing Skeev's entire professional life where he constantly defamed himself. Jamie, on the other hand, is a highly respected audio engineer who has an incredible sense of humor. If Jamie said an AF CD was a flat transfer of another CD, I 100% believe it. He certainly has the background and equip.ent to know. Fuck STeve.

That isn't quite accurate. It was the 2010 AF release of Simon & Garfunkel's Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme that kicked this off. First of all, it wasn't a Steve Hoffman * project, Kevin Gray was responsible for the mastering. Secondly, Tate never claimed the AF CD was a flat transfer of the stock CBS CeeDee. After a few folks compared the old CBS with the new AF, they noted the discs didn't differ all that much. So Tate decided to look a little deeper and took both CeeDees and lined them up in Audacity. And they stayed in perfect digital sync, which is impossible if they had originated from separate analog sources. So the logical, and correct, conclusion was that the later AF - though tweaked with in EQ - was sourced from the standard CBS CD.
As far as I recall, it wasn't even the exchange at Daddy's Cesspool that drew the ultimate ire of Morada/AF. But evidently Tate had taken it upon himself to expose this gaffe in a review on Amazon. That was what poked Marsha Bear into action, as a less than favorable review there could/would indeed impact possible sales.
*If it had been a Hooofman fuck up, all traces of the embarrassing exchange would have disappeared. But good ol' STEVE has no problem leaving his ex-partner standing on the bridge with his dick swinging in the breeze.
