I've come around to really wanting Peter Jackson's idea he pitched to Paul and Ringo to be a remake and reimagining of Magical Mystery Tour. Use the band's music from 1967 + outtakes and remixes as the soundtrack but cast actors as the Beatles and the wild bus-load of characters (some from the original, some new), but write an actual script for a surreal adventure film. The basic concept for MMT is a great one. It just fell flat because it was so improvised and odd. But a talented script-writer can take the concept and the music and craft a much better film. Peter Jackson can find the best writer for it and direct the film. Maybe Paul and Ringo could actually cameo as other characters ha, two old men on a bench who say something funny about the weird bus that just stopped by. To coincide with this, Apple can finally remix MMT and issue a box set, etc. Forget remaking Yellow Submarine. Magical Mystery Tour is the Beatles movie that needs a redo, and this allows the Beatles to get into the modern band biopic game like Queen, Elton and Elvis, but with a surreal spin to it (and avoiding things like the breakup and Yoko that prob won't ever be dramatized with authorization). That's definitely a cool idea! And it would be fun to see. :righton: Whether or not it might actually happen...? I'd say the odds are probably about as good as any of the other wild Beatles/PJ ideas we've seen on the forum. [That's not a knock, just we will not know what the project actually is until it is much closer to fruition...] I could totally see Paul & Ringo as two old men sitting in the back of the bus throwing out the occasional comments like "oh, it's not at all like it used to be, is it?" I claw and claw at my eyes and yet I still see this

I want a new "Magical Mystery Tour" movie following the storyline of the album/ep booklet. C'mon, Apple!!! Yes! Been saying this. It could be a great new Beatles movie, if done well. Just base it off the MMT concept and use the Beatles music, of course. You'd have actors playing the band, but a dream like surreal version. Not trying to recreate factual events, just placing "the Beatles" of 1967 into the story of the mystery trip. Then you have reason to release a MMT or MMT/YS era box set of material to coincide with the film. Maybe this is what Peter Jackson pitched to Paul and Ringo that they responded so well too Well, I meant a new edit, featuring the unused scenes so that it fits with the story on the album. But a proper new movie like you say would be cool too. Oh yeah in that case you could just recut the whole thing as a "Visual Album" using short scenes as segues and using outtakes and clips from other scenes as part of the music videos.

SPECULATION The other day Press in New Zealand quote interview with Steven Spielberg, saying Peter Jackson is doing a 'secret under wraps' film for his ( Spielberg's ) Amblin entertainment. They have worked together before. They plan a future movie of Tintin, but this is not that. Jackson also quoted, would only say he's happy to talk about this secret film. " At The Right Time " When we juxtapose that with several Peter Jackson comments-statements, beginning in 2022, about doing a new live action film with Paul & Ringo ( new non documentary ) live action Beatles film. " For which the technology doesn't yet, quite exist " said Jackson in 2022. If we collate all that, with New Beatles song, new imminent Beatles releases,,,certainly new Beatles video. I'm thinking all the answers are right here in this post. I think the secret Peter Jackson project is a film or modern multi-media experience, not a music video for Now and Then. Although I think he'd do a fine job on a Now and Then video, and just maybe he's directing that project as well using old clips of the band and new footage of some kind. But whatever was hinted at over a year ago and what Spielberg referenced more recently is surely a feature film or some kind of immersive experience, especially if Spielberg's Amblin is indeed involved.
