How did this guy become a teacher?
Hold that thought. My 9 years at a school board taught me that there are plenty of idiots teaching.

This is like asking, "Something is wrong with my house, what is it?"

Of course, that thread devolves into vague rants about modernity.

Hat tip to the mechanic who soaked Renny on "turning off" his light without addressing the cause. Watch out for the wallet inspector, Ren!

rjp believes a bunch of music geek shut-ins are the most reliable experts to ask about car trouble. "Renny, honey, I fixed it! It was just Vapor Lock."

daved unearthed this guy in the “I enjoy vinyl” thread, and I really needed to see if he was truly as helpless as he appeared over there. You be the judge. To date, “CollectorinCanada1971” has started three threads, and he has never poated outside of those threads. Thread #1 (March 20, 2023) Mobile Fidelity Outersleeve Inconsistent QualityHi everyone. I buy Mobile Fidelity outer sleeves to store my records in. For quite some time the sleeves have been crystal clear and beautiful quality. Over the past year I have bought some packs of sleeves and found the sleeves to be cloudy and not as nice and I have bought them from different sources. Has anyone experienced this? Is this just a manufacturing mistake or is it quite common? It’s unfortunate because the crystal clear ones are much nicer but now I have 150 of the cloudy ones. Thank you for your input. The first reply: You got the wrong kind. They make both PolyEthylene (Cloudy) and PolyPropylene. 😂 Thread #2 (June 27, 2023) Polypropylene vs PolyethelyneHi everyone. I have been doing some reading online about the advantages/disadvantages of the crystal clear (polypropylene) vs the cloudy (polyethylene) record sleeves. I am guessing that this subject has been probably beaten to death but is it really just a matter of preference once you get past the issues of polypropelyne attracting light and dust, being more clear and durable vs the polyethylene being more cloudy but more resistant to light, not clear or rigid and being more chemically pure? My albums are sleeved in both but I may want to go one way or another. Any thoughts on this would be great. I like the rigidity of the polypropelyne but both are quite nice. Thank you for any replies. Now, two months later, he’s really in the prone position with his butt in the air: Thread #3 (Aug. 27, 2023) Storing a Record on Left SpineHi everyone. I have different sized outer sleeves as some album covers need a larger sleeve. However, I found that for some records, they fit in the smaller sleeve if I put the record inside the sleeve in a different direction. So I was wondering…for those few records, do you see any issues with storing the record (vertically of course) with the weight of the record on the left seam (not the bottom of the record cover)? Thank you, John Why can't you still have the spine facing outward even if the outer sleeve is in a different orientation? Good question. Problem is when you slide the record off the shelf the sleeve pull away. Sometimes it's best to say nothing, rather than stating the obvious response, which could be construed as sarcastic and basically just plain rude. Just put the record into the outer sleeve in such a way that it doesn't get left behind when you pull the record off the shelf. Even if this means you have to remove the plastic sleeve each time you want to play the record Good advice. I cannot see the left seam receiving more of less wear than if the record was stored with the weight of the record on the bottom seam. But I am only guessing so I thought it would be a good question to put out there. It probably won't receive any more wear than if stored the other way round but the damage to the left seam where the title is is far more damaging to the record overall if that happens. Aesthetically and in terms of value. Putting the record in to the outer sleeve so that it covers the opening will allow you to store your lps so that damage to the seam is minimal and you'll also be able to see the record titles Thanks and good point. Fortunately I only have a small number of albums that I am dealing with here. (Will CollectorinCanada1971 still be batting 1.000 in this thread his next time out? Stay tuned!)

I like storing records with the weight of the record on the right "seam". The only trouble is, when I pull it off the shelf, the record falls on the floor. What should I do?

My fucking Christ.
He'd die of spontanteous combustion if he came into my house.
10,000 rekkids, unalphabatetized, uncategorized and I don't give a single solitary fuck if the outers are cloudy or clear
