For the love of god. Now they think AI was used to make it sound like the Stones. They’re all mental.

Watched the live-streamed event the other night. Suze’s unsolicited opinion: I like the new song. (It’s now my latest ear-worm. Mick’s voice belies his age, and the hook is catchy.) It kind of gave me vibes as something that could have come from Some Girls. It has definitely piqued my interest in the new album. The animated billboards in the video are cool. As someone who enjoys doing image manipulation in Photoshop, seeing the old clips of Mick singing the new tune (as the perspective is constantly changing) really impressed me. Lots of talent went into creating those billboards, which brings me to the part of the video (and the announcement event) I didn’t like: First of all, Jimmy Fallon sucks. I find his penchant for reacting to every minor quip with unbridled hilarity extremely off-putting. His short interview with the blonde tart from the video was cringey, as she was equally as vacuous as Mr. Fallon. (“Oooh, I love the Rolling Stones! They’re my favorite! [giggle]” – paraphrasing here, but the actress who appears in the video (Sydney Sweeney, according to Wikipedia) just came off as totally disingenuous as the host. Ms. Sweeney hanging out of a moving convertible and gyrating herself is as cringe-inducing as her interview with Fallon. If it was supposed to be erotic, the goal was definitely not met. In the video, she even plays air guitar when only drums are heard – thereby adding to the ineptitude. I’d love to see a version of the video sans the bimbo. I really do like the way they did those animated billboards. I found the video cringe because of the blonde on the car. It could have been Motley Crue from the early 90s or something. And in that interview came across to me as the archetypal LA airhead. Here is the level of poster over at SHF There is something about that phrase 'easy on the eye' makes me want to knee the person who says it. Is it a southern USA thing?

I lasted about a minute. The video is amateurish from the girl-on-a-car point of view. Would have been cool in 1999 I guess.

I love how they think autotune wasn't used. Mick's vocal is titally tuned!

A lot of them, mostly that idiot Tony Czar, are all over Andrew Watt. I haven’t heard too much of his work but I’ve heard interviews with him and he seems like a cool guy, and is first and foremost a music geek.
I don’t particularly like the new song, or anything they’ve done for decades, but watching these pea brains getting twisted into knots is hilarious. For all the bitching they do about rock being dead, any time there’s some kind of rock release, other than fucking Ringo or Sir Thumbs Aloft, they shit all over it.

I stopped listening stones after Tattoo You. the new song is so boring, probably like all other songs on the album. Sydney Sweeney is like “generic hot blonde girl.” She’s like if AI created a “hot chick” and printed her with a 3D printer. There’s no magic there. I need something a little more unique, personally. Plus - sorry, Syd - the fact that she comes across as very dumb is also not a turn-on for me. Sorry guys, I can’t find anything to complain about with the song, so I’ll complain about the girl in the video! Doubtful, but is anyone seriously going to argue she would have been considered for this role if not for her two assets that distinguish her from a million other aspiring mediocre white actresses? So far in this thread virtually no one has commented on her lip sync acting in the video, only proudly shared their ogling. Clever marketing or not, getting someone that was still in preschool when A BIGGER BANG was released to borderline strip tease in their new music video is a bit much. mmm I am curious why you felt the need to say “white actress “ ? I don’t think it’s necessary to go there on this thread. You seem to have a problem with the video as well , which for the life of me I just don’t get . Newflash: breast implants have never been sexy. Plus, her top was obviously too small for her. Sydney is as sexy as a pancake, but her toppings are not fake. Except she has breast implants. I was pretty sure this was a Stones related thread. Go defend your fanboy fascinations for Swiftyzz elsewhere, please. I think you are lost. We all know it's far from great. Some are hearing it wishing it was great but it's very average. Oh, it's not that they suck or the song sucks because they don't and it doesn't. It's just so very average. And I think that will apply to the album as well. What if the new album blows? I mean what if. Not even sure why you still insist on participating in Stones threads, don't recall you liking them much anymore, maybe 50 yrs ago? But, according to your own words, even Sticky has lost its glimmer. So, what gives? I'm genuinely curious why someone who is so critical of a band wastes so much internet ink on them. Not sure what that means. I'm just curious what drives people to enter threads for musicians they no longer enjoy, never liked, or gave up on when they were in high school. I don't like The Beatles, hence I avoid Beatle threads... So...if I dislike something I should ignore it? If you were at a neighborhood BBQ and a couple of people were raving about a band or a sports team or movie, would you join the conversation just so that you could crap over their points? Good God. It's called having a conversation, the more spirited the better. Oh. You're the neighborhood party pooper. Cool, dude.

They can't decide what they hate more, Steve Jordan's drumming or Sydney Sweeney's boobs. Idiots.

Here’s an article on the making of the Stones’ new video (from Rolling Stone magazine).
What I found interesting was the director had found actual footage of Mick mouthing the proper words. (I had assumed digital magic had been used instead.)
Also, it’s too bad the idea of Kristen Stewart rocking out in a blue Mustang fell by the wayside. I would have much preferred that to Sydney Sweeney badly playing air guitar in a Mercedes.

Kristen Stewart was in the 2016 video that’s described in the article. It exists.
