The Beatles Biopic Project by Sam Mendes - 4 films scheduled for 2027Best we can hope for is a good soundtrack. I’m not excited about this project in the slightest. What do biopics accomplish? I think the issue with doing it like Tune In is if they want to do Four Movies and fit the entire timeline to 1970 in, they probably won’t have the songs to sell in the first one. A miniseries probably would have allowed them to tell the story in chronological order, but that’s not a film that can probably move the needle for music. Finally, a film that tells the story as seen from Bernard Purdie's point of view! Sony. I'm out. No one is ready for the second hand embarrassment. What's the point of this? Didn't the 3-part Anthology special in the 90s, and the subsequent Beatles Anthology book, already cover this ground? Makes me think it's an opportunity to once again gently rewrite Beatles History. Just don't think the Beatles Cinematic Universe approach is the ideal one. Would rather it just be 2 or 3 movies that integrate all their stories into one combined narrative. Are these going to be 4 full-length films? If so, I expect the sales to be a bust--- just like those 4 albums by the Kiss members way back when. -------- And will the 4 films all be released on the same day? If so, no one will bother watching the Ringo film... I had the exact same thought about the KISS solo albums. Maybe they can do a fifth, direct to streaming film from Pete Best's POV. The only reason for making this movie is to produce a cash-cow. I mean, what part of the Beatles history hasn't been documented to the Nth degree already? MIllie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things could play Cynthia or perhaps Jane. Ooof, I would prefer not to see her in the film. She went from the cute kid in Stranger Things to a pretty unlikable diva in real life. Plus, her asking price is reportedly crazy high. Sorry, I haven't seen a previous biopic that wasn't cringe in parts. e.g .Two of Us Biopics...... ugh. It will be like "Rashomon", except... you know... stupid, cringe-worthy and embarrassing. Maybe after the four films then can have "Beatles: End Game" where they join forces to fight The Blue Meanie Thanos? Then Mal Evans can get a spin-off series on Disney plus where he claws his way out of the Philippines. Pew pew pew! Take that, Imelda! They should also make a fifth film where Pete Best just sits there and tells you, "Everything those blokes just said is bollocks." Not looking forward. Not at all. People have their own memories, images and personal tracks that accompanied their lives. Why should this be reimagined and reimaged again? It would be funny if the Ringo movie didn't get nominated but the others did. That or A24 will compete with a Pete Best movie. Meh, what more else is there to say? Serious question: I am genuinely curious if the people adamantly against this movie feel this way because they're concerned this project means we won't see an archival release because of it. I hear Ed Sheeran is writing the soundtrack and BTS will play the Beatles Yeesh. Train wreck on the way… God help us- Harry Styles will play Lennon and Adele will be Yoko Expect the usual bad wigs, Corny dialogue bad Scouse accents and a ridiculous amount of hype. It sounds like an impending train wreck Wonder if they will deal with Lennon, Epstein, Bob Wooler and try to contextualize the swirling homophobia/panic.

The scary thing is they will potentially be doing scenes and dialogue that they will want to be historically accurate to what actually happened so that it's perfectly truthful... well maybe. But who will oversee that aspect?.. Paul & Ringo are all that's left and they can't even remember what they had for breakfast let alone what happened in the late 50's and Ringo wasn't even there until 1962 anyway so the real early years will be left up to Paul and he changes stories like the wind apart from a couple over the years. The Harrison & Lennon estates have almost no one who was even born let alone apart of the story in the 50's & 60's. So will it will be left up to the producers/script writers to make it all truthful?... good luck with that as all sources over the years have had lots of different "facts" with some completely made up and others vague at best. The producers/director wouldn't know what is right and what is wrong unless they rope in someone like Mark Lewishon but would he lower himself to help a project like this I wonder? Anyone else wouldn't come close to being a good fact checker. This has DISASTER written all over it. Anyone remember "Birth of The Beatles" or "Backbeat"??. Those x 4...God help us all. The Beatles Legacy may well go down the drain in one short year or so. Ca Genuinely baffled by this announcement. Why? What purpose is served that the documentatries to date, particularly Anthology & Get Back haven’t served?

Hard to believe Beatards aren't excited about this.
Mendes needs to go to Liverpool for research.

I just want to see the part where Lennon and Epstein get into each other’s trousers.

“I reckon these would be better with a more notable director, like David Lynch”.
Yes, it’s a shame Sam Mendes has never won an Oscar….
Oh, wait.

"78 year-old David Lynch, who hasn’t directed a movie in nearly 20 years?"

If the movies are anything like Bohemian Rhapsody, get ready to see The Beatles in matching suits and moptops in 1964 premiering Strawberry Fields Forever in front of hordes of screaming teenagers. Roshomon in quadraphonic! Looking forward to the four perspectives on recording Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Steve Buscemi for John. Peter Dinklage for Paul. Idris Elba for George. Melissa McCarthy for Ringo. :biglaugh: Also, Johnny Depp as Yoko Ono. Brad Pitt as Linda McCartney. With two of them dead, not sure how they will accomplish the point-of-view aspect, unless using autobiographies, interviews, etc. as some basis. But judging by previous biopics that have come out over the years, I am not optimistic about this one, which will surely exaggerate and pontificate and elevate these four individuals way beyond their existing mythical proportions. Can't wait to see how the depicted Ringo will have so much more to say and have deep creative input, etc. I wonder if Peter Jackson's going to jump on as a producer? He already has his DNR machine charged and ready to go. Phase Two announced: IronMal: The Anvil Avenger The Amazing Mr. Martin Magic Alex in The Eighteenth Dimension Rise of The Scream Queen and the end of Phase Two... The Infinite Cash Wars - The gang team up to take on the mighty Alien Klien as he sues the galaxy for the Infinite Cash. Please god no. Make it stop. Just re-release the Anthology film series and the complete rooftop concert in 4K and let's move on. The Kardashian-infatuated Timothee Chalamet and Superbad-alum Jonah Hill are the best that casting directors can come up with nowadays? Who's going to play Jane Asher? Sydney Sweeney? Hollywood is so far down the toilet at this point that biopics are only bested in rubbish by superhero drivel churned out ad nauseum. I'm pretty sure I'm Not There was the last quality attempt at a biopic-type film (although it was akin to a docu). Capote was outstanding but not really a biopic at all. Walk the Line was quite good, but it had Joaquin Phoenix who wasn't just a supermodel baby face being force-fed down the public's throat as the new James Dean. Idris Elba to play Billy Preston + every Beatle! Waste millions of dollars that could have been used on original creative ideas and not beating a dead horse. At least the LOVE show was a unique idea and approach to the Beatles catalogue. If I want Ringo's perspective, I'll just watch the "parading" sequence with the young lad and the instrumental "This Boy" from AHDN. Hollywood has no original ideas. It’s all bio-pics and superhero spin-offs. It was just announced, Paul McCartney gave permission for this film to be made on one condition: a Xenomorph has to play the part of Allen Klein. Enough! Enough! Enough! I'm going to end up hating this group if all of this nonsense continues. It's over and we all know more than we need to. There’s no substitute for the real thing, and bio picks tend to be lopsided in one direction or another. I would prefer a film that only features the actual people involved, and taken from the actual vaults that hold the original film. No talking heads, no narration, just the real footage telling the story. Now that I would be interested in, but a music bio pick of The Beatles lends itself to a revisionist interpretation. There’s enough existing film to tell the real story without some actor making an attempt to be someone they’re not. Is this going to be released in theatres? If so, Ringo's movie will bomb LOL...probably George's as well. John and Paul's will have the highest box office. I predict a fifth movie where the four combine together into a crime-fighting super cyborg robot or something like that. There is an interesting conundrum though — which order will the films be released? Given the last film will want to go out with a bang, and that film will in some sense have the final word, which Beatle will have the last say? No offense to Ringo, but does anyone really want Ringo’s story told last? And if McCartney’s film is last, won’t there be backlash? My prediction of the order of films: George Harrison Ringo Paul McCartney John Lennon To quote the late, great George Harrison: “I find it rubbish.” Then in two years a woman can direct 6 films telling the stories of Cynthia, Yoko, Jane, Linda, Patti and Maureen. Put Sydney Sweeney and I'll IN into the project If the films are successful we can get the following spin off films: Beatle wives stories Mal Evans Story Pete Best Story Badfinger Story I wonder if the four films will be released at the same time. It wouldn't make much commercial sense. I would start the Paul film like this: Hands doodling chords on a piano.
A voice sings "Scrambled eggs...."
Jane Asher's voice: Paul, breakfast is ready!!!
We see Paul's face and he replies "I'll be down in a minute".Where's my Oscar? Ringo's movie will have to be called 'Peace and Love '. (waves peace sign) I just wonder how George Harrison - The Movie will do at box office compared to Avengers - Secret WarsIn whose movie will the floating plastic bag appear? Or is it going to be a unifying motif? To those of you 60+ (or so) in the "maybe it'll be bad but who cares?" camp - would you erase the whole Bee Gees/Frampton Pepper movie debacle? Yes, I know that none of the fabs were involved, but George Martin and Billy Preston certainly were (and it was given a green light by our heroes). I do realize that massive turd didn't do any long term damage, but it put it made it hard to admit to Beatles-fandom in public for minute or two... It’s wonderful to be able to choose what and when one want to or not watch something. Then there better be a Rutles version. The Stig O’Hara version would have to be a silent film, of course. Already 12 pages and still three years to go, this thread could be one of the biggest in the history of SHMF:laugh:

I see nothing has changed since my SH.tv journey ended years ago. True to SHiTEville dogma, when in ignorant doubt, trash it. Be it remasters, films or documentaries, anything. Before they've heard one note, seen one preview, it automatically sucks. Miserable cluster of chucklefucks.

So they aren't allowed to say pussy or fuck at Skeev's but they can rhapsodize about juicy steaming turds? As they would cutely ask, what kind of sch!tt is this for phuck's sake or are you just taking the p!ss??
I am not rushing to sneak back in there at the moment. I look maybe 2-3 times a week at the coupons and deals threads, carefully avoiding imarcq, latheofheaven and aoxomoxoa lighting each other's farts and having tickle fights.
