Here's an golden oldie from nearly 15 years ago. LeeS spreading some sunshine:
www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/poor-service-with-amazon.203851/Lee Scoggins: I have been a victim of really bad service at Amazon and thought I might share my story for those of you thinking about placing an order there.
I ordered a software book on Monday (Jan. 31st) and received a notice that the items would arrive on the 3rd or 4th by standard shipping (1st class - $3.99) which was fine since I needed the book by Friday for a weekend project. Thursday and Friday rolled around...and nothing. I thought well it is our screwed up US Postal Service-let's give them another day...Saturday...nothing. Finally I send a polite but firm email asking "what's up?"
Amazon's response? Give them to Wednesday! the 9th before contacting us again.
I think this is the last time I ever use Amazon. [IT WASN'T] It's just too much trouble and they are using a horrific delivery service.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some guy: So since when is an 'estimate' a 'promise' ? ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lee Scoggins: Because it is Amazon's responsibility to make sure they live up to their promises to customers.
Because it is critical for an online vendor to have control over every part of their supply chain.
Because I paid $4 for shipping a single software book from just Kentucky to Atlanta should be plenty of cash for 4-5 day delivery.
You guys are a bunch of unsympathetic jerks.------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lee Scoggins: What's wrong with you people?Do you think it's fair that Amazon sets me up to expect that I will have the book in my hands by Friday and instead they feel if it gets here by Wednesday it is okay?
Don't you think I have should have a right to a reasonable estimate of when to expect my shipment?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lee Scoggins: You guys need to throttle back on the caffeine. You are taking this way too personal. Read what I wrote and you will see I am making some good points here. If they give an estimated delivery then slipping that by 4 days is simply too much, even on standard delivery. I don't know any business that would find that acceptable even if it is a sub-contractor issue. If they hear enough stories about this, then maybe they drop USPS and we get better delivery and better tracking info. That's a win for all.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Moderator: Lee,
What about you acquiring some manners and reason instead?
It's you who made it personal by insulting posters who don't agree with you.If people take the time to reply to a thread you started, the very least you can do is stay fairly courteous as well as read what they write.
Instead of that, you continue to lecture us about our conceived behaviour, ignore our arguments by repeating faulty notions of yours that have been sufficiently contradicted and maintain a general "see I'm right" attitude that's unwarranted.
This discussion is over. Every angle and aspect has been covered.
