Us being down for so many months had the downside of missing a key event in every SHite's life. The release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, I mean the new stereo remix by Giles Martin. We were deprived of so many "Mine shipped" pointless stories, a lot of bitching about the supposed dynamics, etc. So, what is your take on it? What were the worst posts on SH.tv about this traumatic event? Sure, I could try to listen to my 2 CD edition that I bought but haven't bothered to listen, but I prefer to ask other people to settle things for me.

Is it OK if I just go ahead and say "fuck the Beatles, and the horse they rode in on"?

What were the worst posts on SH.tv about this traumatic event? Sure, I could try to listen to my 2 CD edition that I bought but haven't bothered to listen, but I prefer to ask other people to settle things for me. I'm sure you could run down the list of generic SHite complaints and apply every one of them to the Sgt. Pepper release: – It's too loud! – It's too compressed! – It's too expensive! – Mine shipped! (But it hasn't arrived yet!) – Mine arrived damaged! – Amazon cancelled my pre-order due to their pricing error! – It's sacriledge to alter anything by the Fabs! – It still sounds too much like the original release! – The bonus material sucks! – Geoff Emerick hates it! So I do too! This went on for hundreds (thousands?) of pages, and one of the sheep even began a thread called What does Steve Hoffman think of the new Beatles Sgt. Pepper remix?STeVE even decided to slam Giles Martin by putting up a review of the set, penned by some other under-employed no-name hack from "da biz": Later on, Guff decided to call Giles Martin names as well (by replying to a Braindead Ron poat of all things!): Actually, what is evident is that STeVE will never get over the fact that he will NEVER get his grubby mitts on any Beatles master tapes. And that calling Giles Martin bad names is about the only way he can cope with that realization. Tune in again when the whole shit show is repeated for the inevitable White Album remix...

I don't get the Beatle worship thing in Shitville, I mean late middle aged men obsessed with a teenybopper boy band. Ok, they went a bit rad in 1966 but up to that point their target market consisted of pre-pubescent schoolgirls. Didn't it? The same point can be made about the Monkees. And you get these weird old guys obsessing about the next Monkees reissue. Fucking freak show if you ask me.

Lol, "Giles is a squisher". Well at least he has an actual job. Right, Daddy? This is something that STevE shares with many of the SHites: No actual job. Or if they have a job it's nothing to do with the industry they love to hate. Yet somehow they are convinced that they know so much more then the professionals. I suppose it's the age we live in: distrust of experts & hatred of "elites". Oh, and dumb as fuck and stuck with Daddy. It's the Dunning-Kruger Effect Meets The Stockholm Syndrome.

You forgot: - They should have let DAdDY do it Heh Can't believe I forgot that one. Should have been at the top of the list. To be fair, I can’t remember if DaDDY sez remixing is good thing because they didn’t know what they were doing originally or a bad thing that tampers with the artists true intentions. It’s hard to keep track of the edicts.

Most of the usual gang of Beatles experts were insufferable in the weeks leading up to the Sgt. Pepper box release date. Some of them had latched on to an error on Amazon Canada that offered some oddly named release some linked to the Beatles Deluxe box set for around $50 US. They were convinced that they would honor this ridiculous low price. I posted this actual email I received from Amazon Canada bout this issue and was called out as a trouble-making liar. That was only half true - I wasn't lying. When Amazon inevitably cancelled all the SHites pre-orders at that price, the felt "gutted".

I will say, I don't think Amazon's solution was optimal. Just cancelling the order? In this case, it wasn't a big issue, but what if this was a limited edition piece? By cancelling the order, you could potentially screw me out of something that I had secured. I realize that the have to cover their ass but also can't honor any purchases at that price, but it was their mistake. Maybe instead, offer to honor the order at the proper price, or allow the customer to cancel. Give them, idk, a 7 day window to reply. No reply would lead to the order being cancelled.
This is like going to the register with an item priced incorrectly, and instead of the cashier informing you and giving you the chance to pay the proper price, they just take the item away and you have to go back again to get it.
