This quote is a few months old, but it’s a good example why Strat-mangler is held in such high regard around here: Just look at my username. Do you even know what a Strat is? I'll help you out. It's a guitar played by Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Clapton, to name a few, all of whose work I play. Since you're not aware of such basics, I'll also educate you to the fact that their work is infinitely more complex than cowboy chords on an acoustic,... which I also play, along with finger-picking. And songwriting. Oh, and I also play classical piano, just FYI. Think you should stop jumping to conclusions now or do you have more foolishness to write? If anyone was worthy of toping MYKE as the most-loathesone SHite (non-Hoffman division), if would have to be Strat-Mangler. He really is a piece of shit... Refresh my memory, this is the guy that has no examples of his playing anywhere that an interested person could see or hear, correct?

More sage wisdom from everyone’s favorite asshole not named MYKE. (If you’re drinking milk, be careful not to shoot it out your nose when you read his final sentence. It’s a scream!) The mistakes I've made were actually a good thing as they shaped the man I am today. Making mistakes or failing are the only ways to learn, really. Don't mind sharing. I certainly don't take myself so seriously that I can't laugh at myself, especially what I said/did many years or even decades ago. If anything, exchanging anecdotes is an entertaining thing to do in good company. It also can serve as a warning to the listener to not make the same mistakes in his/her life. When I was 20 years younger, I tried to fit in, tried to impress others, and tried to be "the man". Now, I don't care about any of that stuff and would rather hang out with a crowd of accepting fun-loving people instead of the judgmental types who believe they are better than everyone.

How many mistakes --and how serious must they be-- are necessary to make him a tolerable human being? Deplorable though he is, he still ain't learned.

How many miles did the Beatles travel to learn a chord? I'd think with their connections, they could have asked someone like Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck to show it to them. tthen the Beatles traveled many miles to listen to the Maharajah spew some bullshit, so I guess it's possible.

All these assholes who constantly talk about women only wanting to move to the music and not caring about the technical skill involved in the guitar playing, or the trenchant social critique of the lyrics, really do make all the girls they know sound cool as fuck.

I thought Donovan taught Lennon that neat "Julia"-type finger picking in India. He could have done that at the local instead of all the way over in some disease-ridden "shithole" country. Heh.

Christ, any guitar player we love and think is great is self taught. Or or you can listen to boring ass technical players like Steve Vai or Joe Satriani.
