He's sinking a few brews with Sharon Tate in that great pub in the sky.

It appears that the Manson thread is having a beer at the great pub in the sky with Manson, Sharon, Malcolm Young, George Young, Tom Petty, Emerson & Lake, Hendrix, and all the rest...
Although, David Cassidy is back to being alive again, so he misses out. Some irony there, perhaps.

Straight To Hell for Charles MansonI hope this thread isn't too controversially-titled. He's gone, and proclaimed to be the devil on so many occasions...straight back to hell he goes. To hell with him for lifting Beatles lyrics and having his twisted followers write them in blood where they committed their hideous crimes. To hell with him for casting a still-present black shadow over the 'whole' of hippie counter-culture. To hell with his stupid songs...(I've only created this thread because he does have a few recordings out there in the world...though he's much more famous for his 'orchestrations'. I am sorry to the Gorts if this thread is too heavy...but it does seem like a good place to focus our collective angst towards him...like an Irish wake where people spit at the casket and shout their anger at the dead. I know it seems harsh...but Mason deserves no better...even now that he's gone. I certainly hope he has seen the light by now.

Well, it's way more likely that his music would set someone off on a murderous rampage...

I believe I am at the bottom of the dead pool - none of my picks have kicked it.
Not yet.

It appears as though every "RIP Charlie Manson" thread started over there has been closed or completely stricken from the record...ah, the Hoffman forum, last bastion of free speech left on the internet

Fuck! Susan pulled the Mason Reese card. Damn you, it took me decades to stop having nightmares about that demon spawn. I wonder if Stanley Kubrick ever saw that clip and kicked himself for not hiring him instead of Malcolm McDowell? Now we know how much more terrifying A Clockwork Orange could have been.... Try growing up in New England, where that little twerp plugged local brands Dunkin' Donuts and Underwood. His disturbing visage was on television constantly. But, you want truly terrifying? Google his name and see what he looks like now. Just don't utter his name three times....

I am too terrified to see what Mason looks like now. Probably looks like a dozen or so of the SHiTEs.

I was a very little kid when I first saw American television, and one of the first things I remember seeing was Mason Reese on some talk show. He was already past his prime by then, a teenager who was desperate for any sort of attention he could still get. For whatever reason (seriously, there was no one better to book that day?), they showed a compilation reel of his TV commercials from his glory days of a few years before — and it truly did terrify me. I was actually afraid to watch any television after that, and it probably is one of the true reasons why I was never much of a television viewer in my subsequent life. Remember that Star Trek episode about the "Medusan ambassador," that if anyone looked at it they would go literally insane? They never actually showed the ambassador in the episode, but if they had, it would/should have looked like Mason Reese. I pushed it to the back of my mind, but a few years ago I suddenly remembered this, got curious and did a web search to find out that kid's name. How in hell this grating demon hobgoblin moppet could have ever been perceived as "cute" by advertising and TV execs is absolutely mind boggling. Almost as horrific as the way he looks now is a failed (thankfully) TV pilot I found on youtube where they tried to place him in a painfully unfunny sitcom, sort of a proto- Webster, only ... worse .Funny you should mention "Star Trek", as there is a video at YouTube of Leonard Nimoy being interviewed by the little demon seed on an episode of "The Mike Douglas Show". And judging from Lenny's suit, he got a very good look at Mason before getting dressed... The only thing I can offer as to the "appeal" of Mason Reese is that it was the seventies, and the seventies were pretty wacky. How else can you explain kitchens done in puke-green, plaid polyester jeans, Leonard Nimoy's patchwork suit, or the fact that Mason Reese actually won seven Clio Awards...?

The seventies... I still have mental scars from wearing stuff like this: Sears Toughskins...plaid polyester with snaps instead of actual buttons... Bought by mom because they were cheaper than Levis... (I don't think mine were as bell-bottomy as the ones shown here, but mine were red plaid...with bits of green and blue.) Try wearing these to school yourself... (The "boozin'" nickname will then make more sense! )

He actually seemed like an OK guy. He owned (still owns?) a bar in the East Village here in NYC that I used to frequent. Then he turned up at a happy hour at a different bar, just a few months ago And come to think of it, decades ago I saw him trying out a guitar in a musical instrument store on 48th St. Fucker is stalking me.
