The guy who was at one point living in a crackhouse, blowing random homeless people? Sure, he was the definition of “great classic guy”… Funny, that wasn't mentioned in the loving obituaries I've seen.

Show some proper respect. Another part of their childhood is gone. Besides, surely whatever crimes and depravity that took place in the crackhouse were invalidated in advance by the act of playing third or fourth fiddle to a puppet on the TeeVee.

While that may be technically true, Green's brain left around March 1970.

Genuine RIP for Mad Magazine getting deep-sixed.
That magazine is largely responsible for my appreciation of wise-ass/self-effacing humor.
(My current subscription has two years to go. It should be interesting to see how they sort all that out.)

So sad about Mad. Paul Coker Jr. (an original Idiot) is still alive. He’s a great, if somewhat irritable, old guy.

Their editorial process was intense, but MAD paid their freelancers well. This policy helped many a talented young cartoonist fund their personal work over the last ten or so years.
And that's on top of all the legends that made careers out of MAD.
Heh, this one hurts.

João Gilberto, at 88. Resident ghoul Brad Olson was (unsurprisingly) in first with this one. Expect a lot of personalized, “Dear Joao, your music meant so much to me...” nonsense, like they actually fucking knew the guy.

Bradley got his RIP in 2nd and it got locked, but worry not! The ghoul found a 100 year old music director to RIP.
Joao will get a lot of action in the RIP thread as he was on the 2nd best jazz album in Hoofyville, right behind Time Out.
H In fact he turned DildoDipper into a goddamn poet: "One cannot mourn for a soul whose creations touched and lightened the souls of so many others. He reached around the world, and made our hips move. Can you feel it, down there? The slow roll in the walk, the sway that reaches up the shoulders, and above? You have no idea, how many otherwise strait-laced people, this man taught to dance, like they had never before. The melody, the rhythm...the swoon!
Of all the things in man's world, how can there be anything more precious than a song that can reach into the hardest of men, and bring out the smile, of a gentle breeze, an instinctual groove that can be shared in a knowing nod, without guile or shame, and communicate that feeling of just feeling good? The power of bossa is not in its' power...but in its' surrender.
Joao Gilberto, the world has lost so much already...thank you for this gift."
Joao grabbed Dildo by the ear and groin like Timmy with a deer.

Christ, I didn’t even notice there was another thread. I can practically see DildoDipshit crying/jizzing in his feijoada.
Meanwhile, a thread about Michael Hutchence is clocking in at 40+ pages. That place is unreal.
