Were The Hollies ever relevant? At one point in history, it was easier and cheaper for a film to licence "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" than to buy the rights for a Creedence song.

Well that makes sense, considering I think "Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress" is basically a bargain basement version of a Creedence song...

Were The Hollies ever relevant? For a good while, the only sixties songs I knew from them were Bus Stop (which I quite liked), Stop, and Carrie Anne. I also knew enough that they had other hits. I figured a good hits compilation would be worth checking out. But no. Those three songs were pretty much it.

"Bus Stop" is better than just about any single OUR BOYS ever released, but yeah it's diminishing returns after that.

The Hollies won't tour in the US? What's next - Rosie And The Originals will bypass the States too?
Seriously, what year and on what planet are these fuckers living?

Given the Hollies are now rickety septuagenarians, they must be grateful that their greatest hits only take about 15 minutes to perform.
... Snark aside, though, I'm partial to 'I'm Alive', 'Bus Stop' and 'On a Carousel'. It wasn't all dreck -- just mostly.

You people are deaf. I Can't Let Go is their absolute stone classic.

I like some of the Hollies stuff, but fuck. A Hollies US tour in 2018? No way that would be worth anyone's time.

To be clear, the Hollies made some great music. The fucking Hollies now are incapable of making great music.

I have a budget Hollies "best of" compilation LP from the mid-'70s. It has ten songs on it, which means it's padded out with some filler.

Especially since only the drummer and guitarist remain from the 60's (in fact, they are the only members of the band who joined before the mid-1980's, well after the band lost any semblance of a recording contract). And the Hollies were not known for their drumming and guitar playing...
