Speaking of new titles, Jeff Jampol, Doors manager, proposed in an online posting on the Doors Message Board that Steve Hoffman remaster the Matrix master source tapes, which the Doors recently purchased from original location recording engineer Peter Abram, circa April of 2009. This complete „Doors at the Matrix 1967“ box set would mark the first ever CD release from the original source tapes and would include 2 previously uncirculating jams totaling approximately 16 minutes. Jampol said he’d like to see the complete Matrix box a gold CD limited edition. Jampol said this would most likely be issued in Q1 of 2010. Sorry for the click-bait title. Don't Gort me, but really, it's going to be totally cool. Stay tuned! Available exclusively for Record Store Day on April 21, 'The Doors - Live At The Matrix Part 2: Let's Feed Ice Cream To The Rats, San Francisco, CA - March 7 & 10, 1967' limited edition LP is the ultimate addition to any Doors record collection. Newly mastered by Bruce Botnick from the recently unearthed first generation recordings, get this iconic recording at your local record store:RECORD STORE DAY - Stores My guess? Hoof took a shot at mixing/mastering the tapes, and let the cat out of the bag before his efforts were okayed. These recordings are essentially twin-track: one channel vocal, one channel ambiance mix. They need some work that actually requires more than a frowny smile EQ and 5 layers of tube distortion. I'm talking about some heavy-handed compression, high-end jacking and maybe some phase trickery. Hoffman gave them his effort, they hated it and deemed it unsuitable for a mass audience. So, Botnick re-did it himself. Correct me if I'm wrong, Hoofnuts.

I could be very wrong but I’d think by January they would have had Record Store Day stuff close to pressing already. Of course, I’m also assuming this is a Rhino release and they can probably get as short a lead time as they want. You may be right, I really don’t know. I just find the idea of STeVE doing something for a major label release unlikely at this point.

Whatever it was, it looks like he got the bad news pretty quickly.

I would add if this was the “special” release, it won’t be too hard to tell. Count on STeVE to take a pot shot at the release or make some kind of pouty remark about it. You just know he won’t be able to let it pass without a comment. Also, keep an eye open for a mystery version to hit the trackers after the next fundraiser. Heh.

I just find the idea of STeVE doing something for a major label release unlikely at this point. This gig would be directly due to AF's link with the Doors. Jeff Jampol let Hoffman have "Cheap Thrills" & the quad "Best of" through AF. Considering that no one else in the biz wishes to let Hoffy near their property at this point, I find this one of the most likely scenarios.

I'm not so sure. They have been releasing Matrix material since early 2017 from the first gen tapes. I would assume all tracks (38 in total, I believe) were mastered then, and they have just been compiling and trickling them out since.
I just want the whole set on CD already. Oh and I can't stand any Doors threads because you get Pats Radio the big insider acting like a proper prick to any and everyone with no consequence, along with a few acid causalities, and then when someone starts getting a little too critical of Jampol, the gorts step in and close the thread.
