Did anyone see that thread. A guy bought the new £3000 Technics SL-1200 and said it slayed his LP-12 in every way. Did not go down well for a few posters, calling the OP for trashing another manufacturer(which he didn't). Did anyone see what happened?

Can't upset the delicate narrative. Also, only SHites would get mad when some 1%er gear sounded allegedly better than some other rich man' toys.

That Technics is not exactly cheap and is totally redesigned from the earlier models, but still you feel the association is too much.

What is a Technics? What is a LINN?

TechNics is where Steve gets his Kensai serviced. LINN services other parts.

For some reason, over at that SHiTE-hole it is fashionable to bash Technics. Especially by select SHiTE's that own the $16K Rube Goldberg style turntables, that play at the wrong speed and need copious amounts of talcum powder on the belt, to offer even a semblance of stability.
There was no reason to scrub that thread. What a bunch of hyper-sensitives douches.

And when Doctor Technic is out of town he goes to the chemist and gets a few tubs of Assos Chamois cream.

Technics are associated with DJs. DJs don't even play real instruments and many are involved in that rap crap. Therefore, all good SHites must disavow the Technics brand.

I couldn't care less about vinyl these days, don't even have a turntable. But I will say that back when I cared about such things, the only good turntables I ever used were massive direct drive Japanese models. They were completely hassle-free, always played at the right speed, and were built like tanks.

I have a Technics direct drive TT (currently in storage back in the USA). I bought it at an audio show in the early 80s, and as essayceedee wrote above, it's built like tank.
The last time it was used was probably 20 years ago, but it still worked perfectly.
The SHites are out of their collective minds if they are calling Technics crap.

This is an audiophool thing. When bearded cardigan-wearing Brits started building turntables in their sheds from fiberboard and rubber bands in the mid to late seventies, European audiophool so-called "journalists" started claiming that Japanese direct drives were all crap. This utter bullshit quickly spread around the world, an is still taken as gospel by Shakti Stone buying mouthbreathers to this day.
It's a great fucking hobby, isn't it...
