SHites harass eBay seller; ebay seller tells off SHites

At issue is a mysterious White Album with an orange embossed and numbered jacket:
www.ebay.com/itm/182841679894
The Beatards (and, surprisingly, some Dead Heads) automatically assume the worst of their fellow man, despite the seller maintaining 100% satisfaction rating for two decades...
A sampling of 7 pages of comments which all say pretty much the same thing:
This is the problem with items like this and “autographs”, too many rip off items out there.
So that they could try to sell it on eBay for 20 grand, of course.
On the second page, some of the Beatards start going into detective mode. And they are expert detectives, boy I tell you:
My guess is that someone painted it with spray paint when it was new. You can even see white underneath where it has worn off. The number looks like a muted gray, probably because the paint was a transparent type, wasn't opaque.
That dude that collected white albums had lots of them with original artwork put on the covers. To think someone painted the entire front cover isn't that much of a stretch.
Mystery solved.
(I am already starting to hate Michael (who has a girl for a avatard, btw) and PaperbackBroadstreet (who has one of the most stupid Macca-derived names ever))
By page four, one can detect righteous anger at the seller starting to bubble up among the busy detectives...
It turns out people are stupid..
Some body was really stoned..........
Beave
If this was an early test print it wouldn't have that high number.
It's just a spray job done by a consumer.
On page five, 24voltsdc finally has the bright idea of asking the seller where he got it.
However, aoxomoxoa apparently got through first:
24voltsdc also got a reply from the gentleman selling the record:
Michael is having none of it, and now his righteous anger boils over:
Guess he got a lot of inquires asking if it's a joke...it is a joke on the bidders.
aoxomoxoa stumbles upon a lead...could the fraudster in question possibly be a SHite??? aoxomoxoa seems certain.
I just checked his other listings. This has to be a forum member
JaimeC joins the chorus on calling the man with two decades worth of 100% feedback "a fraud" despite none of the SHites examining the record or knowing anything about the seller...
I think it actually belongs in that "We Buy White Albums" exhibit as an adulterated cover.
I cannot believe we have spent 6 pages discussing this potential fraud.
So more SHites write to the poor guy, calling him a fraud, and telling him he's an idiot, and all kinds of other charming inquiries. The poor guy even replies to these assholes (Jerryb makes the third Dead Head sleuth so far, but he ain't about peace and love):
How exactly do you know it was painted? Because I'm not an idiot, and I can tell what paint looks and feels like. This was done by a printing press, just like I described in the auction. There are no brush strokes, no variations in tone, no indication whatsoever that it could be done at home. I put a crazy price with "best offer" because I have no idea of the value. I'm glad you have so much time on your hands for such important matters.
Michael thinks this reply is really nasty (I guess because the guy says he is not an idiot? Or because he implied Jerryb was wasting his time?)
Jerryb must have fired a missive back to the poor guy, because he's back with another reply:
I got this thing in a giant collection, from which most of the sealed records in this week's list come, and assumed it was some kind of bootleg. But then I asked my Beatles guru, who spoke to Perry Cox about it. Nobody knows what it is. It is obviously (especially if you see it in person) not some homemade paint job. There's no way. So maybe it's a printing mistake. I really don't know.
The most fascinating thing is that its existence must in some way challenge all of these Beatles "experts". It's something they didn't know existed, ergo it must be false. If these guys really were truly scholars of Beatles stuff, they would either be interested, or they would be so secure in their knowledge that it was nothing that they wouldn't bother with it at all. The fact that so many are up in arms only points out their insecurity. How dare someone discover something new???
If it is a boot of some sort, then that's all it is and certainly not worthy of the negativity you all spout. Rare boots frequently sell for hundreds, sometimes over $1000 for colored vinyl and such. This seems to be the only one of its kind, so it's gotta be worth something.
Feel free to relay this message to whatever forum you visit where everybody is losing their mind over this
The SHites, blinded by their Beatardedness or Deadtardedness still think the man is perpetrating fraud:
Defensive =something is wrong.
I feel for the person who wastes time or money on this.
Okay Beatards, I know you are lurking:
Leave this poor guy alone. He buys crates of records. That's what he does and has been doing for two decades. He has been honest in his dealings, as his feedback has indicated. He was kind enough to reply to you shitbags, and take your questions seriously even after you called him a fraudster and an idiot.
He got this record in a crate of records and doesn't know what it his. He very forthrightly says so in his write up. He provides pictures and a description. He set the buy-it-now price high because he doesn't know what it is worth and wants people to bid on it, not buy it now. He isn't really trying to sell it for 20K.
Nothing about this man seems like he is a fraudster to me; he was very restrained in his replies to you insufferable asshats.
It is quite possible the record jacket is some kind of homemade affair, or bootleg, or pirate, or fake. The guy acknowledged right from the start that he has no idea. It fell into his possession, and he's offering it for sale (presumably to someone who knows what it is).
And he was absolutely accurate in how he characterized you and your stupid forum.
Michael is a twerp; does Stereo Central have a dossier on him?

Surely, if Apple had released an orange variant, they'd have used orange everywhere, and not just on the front cover, as is the case here.PaperbackBroadstreet said:

I think the pasteover panel is the giveaway. It doesn't seem likely that the cover could have been manufactured with exactly the right amount of orange space to meet the front pasteover. I don't think there is any way this was made by a printing press, contrary to the seller's claim. Plus there's the fact that it does look like paint.Morton LaBongo said:
I've never heard of this variation before. Huh. I'd say it's painted but the number itself seems to be stamped on, not painted over, though it is rather faint. Even if real, I don't think it's worth what the seller thinks it's worth.Lemon Curry said:
The cover makes no sense at all. Even if one was "officially" made, why just the front? It looks ridiculous.aoxomoxoa said:
It's been dipped in a light color dyeDigital-G said:
If it's a "one off" why would the number on the cover be so high - wouldn't it have been produced with other "white" albums? My guess is that someone painted it with spray paint when it was new. This has been photoshopped, and poorly. If you zoom in on the outer edge of the vinyl on the right side, you'll see 3 vertical "pieces" of black pixellation sticking up into the orange with the appearance of a jagged edge that is not present on the rest of it.Green Fuzz said:
Looks to me like earlier layers of dirt and wear were painted over.Michael said:

that doesn't seem to mean as much as you would think... there was another thread the other day that touched on this. It's like these Chinese mega-sellers that sell nothing but fakes and still have feedback ratings 95%+ positive..It turns out people are stupid..

It's not a bootleg. It's an original that's been painted over, as is obvious from looking at the number, which has been painted over. The seller isn't even smart enough to realise that this gives the game away.Michael said:

Asked him where he acquired it. And to give me as much background on it as he can.
His response was he bought a whole basement full of records from an 80 year old man. He swears it's not a joke. I forgot that I asked him if this was a big joke. That's his response.

OK as a low end used record dealer(retired) my reaction is there is one born every minute. The whole thing screams FAKE! The tape is colored over.
