I have never understood why anyone would actually *purchase* pirate CDs made from needledrops. It isn't like anyone couldn't find their own clean copy of The Early Beatles for a buck. But then we are talking about BeaTards. Yeah, I never got that either. I downloaded a couple to see what the fuss was about. He was probably just pulling a STeVE and EQing CDs anyway. "There you go - the elusive 1972 Yugoslavian pressing of Sgt Pepper!"

Oh and dr Ebbetts stuff sounds like ass. I never understood all the love for it. Considering what was available digitally then, it was OK. But his Abbey Road was almost unplayable unless I turned the bass all the way down. Isn’t that something? This decent sounding, grey-area series of reel-to-reel sourced material got a lot of love from me years ago. Lots of early S-T-E-R-E-O.

From what I've read, Ebbetts was a compulsive liar and a thief. He'd borrow albums from fans around the world and not return them. He always claimed his needledrops were unEQ'd or tampered with, but this was also revealed to be bullshit. Another well known and respected needledropper Pbthal exposed his dodgy practices and that was pretty much the end of Ebbetts pirate business. Brainwashed always claimed to "know" Ebbetts, and constantly dismissed any ideas that his needledrops were anything but flat transfers from the original albums. I remember him once saying - "Dr Ebbetts doesn't even have a graphic equalizer!" - seemingly oblivious to the fact that even the most basic audio editing programs have an EQ facility. I've listened to many Ebbetts drops and they're all screechingly bright, with many tiny drop-outs where he has removed a click by literally replacing it with silence. A total amateur. And an arsehole. PBTHAL's rips are the shit, got quite a few of those, he does nice work. Ebbetts, er, not so much.

I don't like getting involved in a squabble with someone I don't know, but Parrox is talking out his arse. First of all, HE doesn't have a DISC of Giles outtakes, because one has not been created. Giles is daring in that he keeps a laptop with the entire Beatles canon on its HDD, but he doesn't make reference discs ever. I know this for fact. The WA project is done or nearly so. Much of the work having been done over the last few years, awaiting final approval. Apple and Universal were very pleased with the sales and promotion for Pepper, so it's a near-certainty that a special WA project will be released in November. And it's ALWAYS that way with Beatles releases. A project is started and/or finished, then awaits approval by Apple. Some projects sit on the shelf, some never see the light of day. It's a strange way to go about things, but it's a necessity because of the arrangement between EMI (now Universal) and EMI. Giles and the engineers at Abbey Road have even used their spectral editing techniques on selected mono NAGRA tapes, doesn't mean that a revamped Let It Be project is definite, but work has been done and THAT work COULD be used on some future archival release. Fuckin' brainwashed. There was a thread last year where he claimed to have been with Giles when Giles tweeted something. I think it was the thing about the 'ahhs' in A Day in the Life. brainwashed was doing his usual insider routine and someone challenged him on how he supposedly knew the things he was saying. And he said 'I was there'.

Here it is . So for those that don't know, there's an endless argument on who does the 'ahhs' after Paul goes 'somebody spoke and I went into a dream'. Is it Paul? Is it John? Someone on twitter asked Giles Martin and he said it was John. Ron Brainwashed claimed Giles said he had been hasty in responding and regretted it.
Anyway..
nobody responds. so he asks again.
this goes on and on..and on in the usual tedious way. And then...

He even speculates about a potential Let It Be project. How could there be such a project? We have the outtakes from Anthology 3, the remix from Let It Be... Naked, and they wouldn't be allowed to use the documentary, which is precisely the thing fans would want. And who would listen to the band trying to play live in the studio but with the guys too angry at each other for it to work?

That sounds like something that only a fool would make up.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't consider it outside the realm of possibility, knowing Apple.

Brainwashed reminds me of the kid at school who'd claim his dad works for Nintendo -- "I get to test out all the new games before they're released".
I wouldn't be surprised if he heard about the spectral editing from his girlfriend who lives in Canada.

Since you actually met Giles Martin, that elevates you into the Beatles Stratosphere, compared to virtually all the SHiTe "insiders".
