Hello katieinthecoconut, Yes, there are female mastering engineers. . I'm one of them. My name is Patricia Sullivan. I may not be well known, but I've been doing this for about 25 years and have worked at Bernie Grundman Mastering since 1999. I'm a bit of a hermit so I don't wander out of my padded room, er, I mean studio, very often.
There are other females as well. I see that Emily Lazar, Darcy Proper and Mandy Parnell got mentioned somewhere in this thread. That's good, even though Mandy and Emily got dissed. ;-) Jett Galindo used to work at Doug Sax's place and now is at The Bakery Mastering in LA. Jessica Thompson was involved in Bjork's latest release, and has a passion for restoration. Sarah Register is out of NY and has worked on lots of indie and bigger commercial records. I think she came up under Emily. Piper Payne (Neato Mastering) is in the SF area and is gearing up to open a vinyl pressing plant. Nancy Matter had a mastering studio called Moonlight Mastering in Burbank CA. She was instrumental in getting MEs included in the Grammy Awards categories. She left music for awhile and races funny cars. I hear she may be tooling up again to open her studio. She's in Texas now. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Females are around. We may not be as well known as Bob, Bernie, Doug, Greg, Howie, Ted, Herb, etc, but we're here and have happy clients. That's what counts anyway, IMHO.

I'm looking you up, as I just saw your name on the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood vinyl. Hello. I'm assuming your work carries the same signature as Mr. Bellman & Grundman, that is, a nice full bottom end, while maintaining clarity in the highs ? That "signature " sound of theirs has had me seeking out their reissues, then selling off my originals, and my originals go back 55 years !!!!
EDIT : Turns out I do have an example of your work, The Departed Soundtrack CD, which sounds great to me ! So I guess my question now applies to only vinyl, where for me, that bottom really shows up !!!
