Same as it was for the Pepper remix. Grabbed it off Soulseek (yes, that's still a thing), listened to it once, then deleted.

I can't feel the drums on "Back In The USSR". It can't be played at parties. I can't help but feel like this remix was made to be kind to old people before they die. Sad.

Can you just imagine the wild abandon that goes on at parties that still play "Back in the USSR"? At least most of the people there already have their Depends in place...

It's not about the song--obviously Helter Skelter is well represented with two outtakes, one of which is 9 minutes— it's about the length. 23 minutes...that's like giving Paul 8 extra songs... and the space that that one track takes up within the entire project gets thrown out of whack. Of course Yoko "fights" for John to be represented well and equally to Paul in Beatles releases, and Olivia "fights" for George to get his due, and they should! That's their job, and that's great. Sorry but I think the wives should have no say in artistic decisions. With George and John gone, there's no perfect way to go about releasing unreleased stuff and voting on repackages or new films or compilations. The wives do have a say now. As much junk gets thrown at Yoko, at least she does OK some things, and frankly could be a bigger thorn in Paul/Apple's side if she wanted to. On the other hand, Olivia doesn't release much of anything from George's vaults, so has she held up certain choice Beatles outtakes too? She seems like a wonderful lady personally, but its odd that she wasn't even around during the Beatles years, but now has veto power on Paul and John songs...did she even meet John Lennon in person, ever? At least John chose Yoko to be his wife and collaborator while the Beatles were still a band and she was around sessions, etc. and gave the Threetles John's demos for Anthology... (for better or worse, she's connected to the band she's voting on content for). Sooner rather than later, Paul and Ringo and Yoko will be gone. And I am certain that all of the legal intricacies have all been worked out already as to how future decisions will be made. In fact, they might have already decided about how every item in the Beatles vault will be handled. This way, all future problems will be avoided. It is also possible that once Paul and Ringo are gone, Apple may be sold off or incorporated into some other music-related company. There are many possibilities for how Apple as an entity would continue, or not, in the future.

My inside sources tell me that James McCartney will have full control of the Beatles catalog upon the passing of Macca.

My one eternal hope is that once the last one shuffles off this mortal col (I have money on it being Pete Best), we discover a clause in their will which requires every single Beatles recording that's ever been sold or distributed to be collected and destroyed. It'd be like what the NRA thinks is happening but with copies of Past Masters instead of AR-15s.

How many Beatles have to die before STeVE gets to remaster the catalog?

How many Beatles have to die before STeVE gets to remaster the catalog? All of them. And their wives and children. STeVE will be dead himself before that happens. With any luck though STeVE will have arranged for GRnaT and brainsquashed to remaster the catalog on his behalf in the event he departs this mortal coil before the way is clear.

The fucking obsession with this piece of noodling bullshit. Never mind that the ship has sailed as it was part of the Pepper sessions. That has been exhausted with the 50th box.
