There actual sound quality issues out there. There are certain CDs which are more or less objectively bad/defective. Most of the examples I can think of actually are ones Hoffman had a hand in, but there are other examples (certain early Rolling Stones cds of their sixties work, or those McCartney 1993 cds which, while far from awful or unlistenable, at least soundwise, are not as good as other versions). .... Last time I remember really griping about sound quality was when my friend played me a Sparks CD. I forget which one, but it's one that for some reason gets treated like public domain and has been reissued on half a dozen budget labels, usually from dubious sources. It was full of sibilance, and I couldn't help but wonder aloud if better cds of it existed. I keep hearing people bang on about his mastering of Icky Thump by The White Stripes, but it's no great shakes to me. I dunno if he did the CD, but that is a contender for the worst 'popular' album I've heard. It sounds like shit.

We lost a lot of good ones. Still hurts.

I think the remix of BITUSSR sounds pretty damn good but I am not sure I'm gonna spend $120+ on this set considering I bought last year's box and only really bothered with the bluray. All outtake CD's have not been played even once .

$120 for this tired old shit?? Beatard-dom truly is the last refuge of stupid. Yes, they truly are a bunch of pinheads. I can't wait for my WA box set to get here. And This Was and Electric Ladyland. And In Search Of The Lost Chord box set. 🤓

I don't know what's more annoying - stupid posts or that Tinnox likes every fucking post there. Even arguments. What he will do when WA came out, all complaints would be done and his topic naturally ended. Commit suicide?

“Certainly Paul, John and George had their own four-track tape machines at this time,” Martin said. “I had no idea what the ‘Esher Demos’ were and then they sent me this CD bootleg that had been out. Gosh... "A new, longer version of ‘Helter Skelter’ was uncovered on the Esher Demo tapes. Martin says he was struck by how loud the band were." “On the Esher package, there’s a long version of ‘Helter Skelter’, like a blues version,” he said. “Paul came to Abbey Road and I played him [this] version and he said, ‘Was this us trying to be the loudest band in the world?’” Apparently not, as an even louder, 30-minute version was later found. While this didn’t make the final cut, a 10-minute version of ‘Revolution’ that eventually became ‘Revolution 9’ is included. What he did talk about? There's acoustic version of HS that didn't get to the box? He's so informed! How is it that Capitol executives knew about these tapes and referred to them almost 25 years ago and yet Master Giles had no idea what they were? This is why we must take everything that is said when promoting such releases as PR script. Lots of it is true, lots of it may be partly true, and some of it is said just for effect. Remember when they found a "lost song" when Yellow Sub was issued on DVD? ...even though that lost song had been released since 1968? So now you have a idea why first version of While My Guitar is not there.. I'll doubt it's lost. They probably just didn't looked very hard for it. They really could use the investigative skills of Ron Furmanek again. Too bad he and Apple parted company. It does make you wonder sometimes. Reminds me of hearing and watching Dhani and Sir George listening to a "lost" electric guitar solo on Here Comes The Sun, when its been on the tapes all along. It's not the same as finding something at the end of a blank reel. Kind of baffling Giles didn't know about the Esher Tapes considering many were released on A3 and the boot has been out for close to 30 years. Perhaps he meant he found all the reels in George's archives, but was fully aware of the recordings themselves before hand. Ron

Is Dewey that stupid and didn't know that Brainwashed is Ron F himself?
p.s. I'm not will be surprised at all if Giles heard WA in full for the first time when he started remixing it. He is such a fan! Why need to listen the rest if you heard and have Carnival Of Light on your hard drive already?
