Figure of Eight, in the Bataan death march of all things Macca, the Egypt Station thread:
"When the day arrives when McCartney is no longer with us and the obituaries are being trotted out and people finally take it upon themselves to investigate his post-Beatles music it'll be "oh, I didn't realise he made classical music albums" or "oh, I didn't realise he had electronica side projects" or "oh my, he made a lot of music under pseudonyms that he didn't publicise" or "oh my, why wasn't this song the massive hit it deserved to be?" but it's going to be too late."

How about “oh my, Figure of Eight has an IQ of eight”.

You can’t buy albums by dead artists and no artists’ songs have shot up in the charts immediately after they died. By then, it’s too late. Unfortunately, they stopped making music in 1973.

Too late for good bars, obviously.
(I imagine this is what every SHite sounds like when he sings along with his fave tunes.) I didn't know Tim Lookinbill joined the Beagles!

The two Julian Lennon videos are actually the final works by Sam Peckinpah.

Did Peckinpah feel that the woman dancing in the door frame was the crowning achievement of his cinematic career?
Yes, he did. He underpaid her, and bought more blow with the difference. When wired, he did regard these shots as he best thing he’d ever done.

Too late for what? Haha! Yeah, I'll own that one as it's worded quite badly and I dashed that post off quickly without too much thought for how it read because, quite frankly, at the time of posting I couldn't be arsed to clarify further. But in a nutshell, the gist is that McCartney's solo work is overshadowed by his Beatle work and has been since ever, which is understandable due to The Beatles' perceived cultural/historical significance, and that his death will be so highly publicised that it will - I'm willing to bet - result in a surge of people discovering/rediscovering what is quite a sizeable body of work. It will be "too late" because if a more widespread appreciation for McCartney's solo career *does* happen, not only will McCartney himself not be around to witness it, but new converts will never have a chance to see those songs in a live capacity as a consequence of that. Of course, they'll always have the recordings, but if I remember my original post was made as part of a discussion about McCartney's live setlists. I'd like to clarify that I don't think everything that McCartney put out is genius - he's put out some utter shit over the years, but I think the best of his post-Beatles work is ripe for discovery/rediscovery.
