Likely to be an ongoing thread as he does it so much. Let's start with this: Guys, there has been wrong info going around for years masquerading as fact about Tony Hicks overdubbing a guitar in 1968 on the song "Like Every Time Before." The fact is, Tony did it in 1988 for the Rarities album which Ron Furmanek put together for EMI, UK. It was previously issued in OK stereo sound on a 1968 German album, but when Ron mixed it he synced up two 4 tracks together to give him 5 or 6 tracks to mix from. And of course, NO overdub guitar is there as it wasn't done until 1988. This clear it up? Over and out. That's not true. The guitar overdub was done during the live mono mix-down in 1968, hence the German stereo version following a few months later missing the overdubs, and the mono version being included on "Rarities" in 1988 as no multi-track exists of the solo. The song was quickly turned out to issue as a B-side to "Do The Best You Can", which had become an unexpected hit in Mainland Europe only in the summer of 1968. It wasn't originally intended to include on an album or be issued in the UK, as the Hollies had already given the song to the Everly Brothers in 1966 for inclusion on their "Two Yanks In England" LP. Just going by what Ron F. told me and he ought to know.. (Shrugs).
