ERIC CLAPTON "Life In 12 Bars," saw it for the first time today. Truly good, but depressing..

I like the part where he goes off on the darkies.

I like the part where he goes off on the darkies. It is too bad that there doesn't appear to be a soundboard or audience recording of the Birmingham '76 show in circulation. I'd want to hear that just for the audience's reaction to Clapton's "Enoch Powell" rant.

That was the thing about Clapton's 'Enoch Powell' rants. They had a mesmerizing fervour at the time, but afterwards you couldn't remember a single word he said.

I poated the rant in one discussion or another here a while back. It's pretty disgusting. Fucking amazing ol' Slowhand had any sort of career at all after that rant leaked out...especially considering 42 years on he's never really apologized for it.

I don't think I had ever really heard about that until you posted it. I don't know how they've managed to pretty much keep it out of all the mainstream press in this day and age. Then again, I never cared much for Clapton so maybe I just missed it, but I'd think it would be more of a common knowledge kind of thing.

The brain trust that makes up the SHITE Clapton fans may provide some clarity. They hardly have a good enough grasp of basic reading comprehension.
That aside, I'm glad we got STeVE's reaction in a separate thread. I can understand why he did it, too. He wouldn't want his thoughts to get lost in the poatings of the unwashed masses.

Eric's had a lot of pain in his life, and members of the ethnic community would do well to remember that.

Clapton should get with Morrisey for a real musical beatdown of the wogs.
