I couldn't really give a shit if it ever got re-released or was lost forever. I'm just glad that the racist/offensive Looney Tunes cartoons are still available. They hold a lot of historical value, and are entertaining too. Sure, the intended humor is punching down, but it's easy to watch it now and laugh at the whole premise that this was once acceptable and mainstream. Song Of The South isn't entertaining on it's own merits, and the offensive material is just a lazy and oft-used caricature. It's bad to totally erase history and pretend that this sort of stuff never happened, but in this case, just preserving the general knowledge of what Song Of The South is and what it represents is enough.
Oh, and as far as Looney Tunes, they come with this excellent disclaimer
