Of course, one obvious question is why didn't he replace Yes with "Bohemian Rhapsody" if he wants Queen in the list? That's usually how it works...
I'd like to scoff at "More Than a Feeling" while we're at it. When I was 12, I thought it was the heaviest fucking song I ever heard; I could feel surges of testosterone I had never felt before. I also decided then and there to be a stoner rock type dude (to get the chicks, 'natch) That was all ruined for me at 18 when a musician pointed out that it is really "Louie, Louie" with smoke bombs. Now, "Louie, Louie" is a perfect song; why not go with that? But I digress...
He also seems a little condescending to Europe for no reason, but whatever...
But what bothers me most about this seemingly innocent request is how unnecessary it is. Is Hoofer really unable to come up with ten songs for an el-cheapo ten-song European comp that will probably only be sold at gas stations? Is he so visionless that he'd leave it up to the whims of the SHites and all the risks that entails? Is he so lazy that he can't bother thinking of perfect Supertramp and BTO songs? Is he so lonely that he really wants to discuss what merits "perfection" in a pop song? Is there even really a 10-song European comp at all?
At any rate, the SHites are quick to nominate some pretty awful songs.
