Concessions question: would Paul be able to sell 2,000 copies of a 7" single each night of his tour at $25 a piece? If yes, why doesn't he? If no, what if each stop had a different B side - just some goofy, acoustic jam - thus making this an extremely limited pressing of just 2,000 copies? Why don't artists do this? Would Billboard count all the sales of the A side? If it were indeed a different B side each night, with a guaranteed limited run of only 2,000 copies - could McCartney sell those 7" vinyls for $100 each?

The a-side is already a goofy jam.
Also, don't artists tend NOT to sell their albums at merch stands, typically? I thought the whole point was to shill the merch (which I imagine yields a higher profit) not albums that people are more likely to buy anytime if they are gonna buy it at all.

Merch tables usually have the album. Sometimes there's a tour exclusive single or something. But, yeah, those thin and cheaply produced 40 dollar shirts are the superstar. Or megastar.

My sister saw Paul McCartney in Montreal a few days ago. I asked her to get me a t-shirt, so she did. Fifty bucks. I must be insane.

I haven't seen it yet but I'm guessing it's got two arm-holes, a head-hole, and some sort of graphic on it. Printed in gold leaf no doubt, given what they charged for it.
Insert ass-hole joke here...

But is he selling the cassette for all the poor people at his concerts? No, but I would have been happy if Paul had paid for my Heineken at last night's show: $13 a fucking can!!!
