I love the comments so far. It's all about stylus rake angle. Maybe they all really know a mat really doesn't make much difference. Somehow Rega's felt doesn't sound as god as Pro-Ject's felt. In fact, Rega's is abominable, while Pro-Ject's gives a $600 mat a run for the money. Do these guys understand that Rega and Pro-Ject just buy felt mats from a supplier? Odds are real good that depending on the deals they can get, they use the same ones sometimes.

Re: Def Leppard being deserving of RRHOF
Ask every 12 year old you know who MC5 are. Fuck, ask any 50 year old you know!

This poat seems tone deaf too. Many SHiTEs love Def Leppard, and the point if the good Dr. is that he's supposed to be a youth of today parroting back Boomer wisdom. MC5 are too political.

Yeah, he's going off-piste there. Only good band from Michigan is Grand Funk.

At least he's right. This poat seems tone deaf too. Many SHiTEs love Def Leppard, and the point if the good Dr. is that he's supposed to be a youth of today parroting back Boomer wisdom. MC5 are too political. I'd say they were one of the greatest rock n roll bands of all time, despite the political associations and political posturing. Neither Back in the USA, nor High Time are that political in content. Yet to hear anything that merges primal rock with free jazz like Skunk (sonically speaking). Unfortunately, Wayne Kramer is his own worst enemy and for some silly reason, decided to put an injunction out on the Documentary 'A True Testimonial'. A shame because it's fantastic.

I doubt this live recording will be new to many on this forum, but it's still worth a repoat. Very fresh for 1970.

I fucking love the MC5 including the politics. I'm just saying they are not fully SHiTE approved. Not like Def Leppard. "Skunk" is my jam. It hits at what they were trying to get at when they were covering Coltrane in the Kick Out The Jams days.

MC5, along with Seger and Alice Cooper and the other Detroit rockers from that time, used to play a lot in my neck of the woods. I mentioned this once on a thread that was gorted soon after a small argument broke out. I was told that since I wasn’t born at the time I couldn’t verify if they really played here or not, nevermind the poster my friend’s dad has in their basement. I was also told how I can’t like Bob Seger if I only knew his post-Live Bullet stuff. I think the thread was gorted because nasty discussion about Motown trying to steal from the white bands started, but it may also still be there, too.

12 year old knows what it was like in 1966 when Pet Sounds came out:
Also has funds any 12 year old would dream of. I had to deliver flyers to scrounge up the $6.99 to get my first White Album when I was 14.:
