Someone recommends a 70s compilation for Bobby Moron :-

Bobby's response :-
Too many horrible soul records on that for me.
And from previous posts :-
I’m not a big fan of soul though and there seemed to be a lot of that around at this time.
100 70s Hits compilation. If it has a fault it’s that it’s a bit ‘soul’ heavy.
Soul did seem to catch on in 1976 here. I was never a fan of the genre in the main.
A lot of those songs don’t appeal to me. I’m not really a soul/reggae guy.
1974 was the year of soul in the UK. No wonder I didn’t want to do this thread.
It has to be said the UK charts had far less soul records than the US in 1973/4.
As soul and R&B were big as the time, a batch of dreary funk and erm, soul numbers were chosen.
When I look at the US charts of 1973 there are a lot of soul records that I don’t especially enjoy clogging it up. Whether they’ve become classics over the years or not.
To be honest, I'm less keen on the soul records that tended to dominate the US charts around 1973/4.
That chart's a bit too soul heavy for me.
Lots of 'soul' records in that US chart...
Not really interested in the soul and rock and roll stuff...
At last. A number one from 1974 that isn’t ‘soul’.
The US charts are packed with boring 'soul' songs, so I didn't bother.
I didn't like any of Chic's singles. They all sound the same to me. As you've worked out, I'm not much of a soul/funk fan anyway...
The chart is a bit 'soul' heavy for my liking.
I'm not really a fan of soul. As you may have already guessed!
The Love Me For A Reason album was too 'funky' and the only big hit was the title track which was a soulful ballad.
Aretha Franklin. She's been dreadful for at least 30 years. Soul singers get away with murder!
I have to say I struggle to even remember 'Keep On Truckin'..
It's taking a chance bashing Aretha, but I don't think she's been any good for years. Soul singers get away with murder!
Too much funk, too much squealing and far too little melody.
Funk is the pits.
FUNK, you say?! *Hurries onto eBay site to try and cancel order*
What the hell are Zapp and Tom Browne? They sound like they might be 'funk' related.
I hate funk. James Brown was my idea of hell.
I thought you'd go for this chart. Lots of those awful 'funk' things you like in here!
Where's your James Brown singles poll, BTW? I was going to troll that.
