Ariana Grande's new music video breaks Youtube record.
I’m guessing there was several multi-million hits just to hear a short segment, then click on another video, or others just playing it to mainly hear the music, or perhaps hardcore fans playing it on constant repeat, or others to just gawk at the artist.
It's just puzzling. :wtf:
Is she swearing in that song? Her vocals are not particularly clear, by design I guess.
Is it like a Taylor Swift 'Bad Blood' kind of thing?
I'm kind of hoping for an MC Hammer-style epic financial meltdown where we find out she's 25 million in debt or something.
In the meantime, let's enjoy the eye-candy.
...but I can't even sit through a minute of this auto-tuned drivel. And it's not just that it's auto-tuned. It's that the song itself is crap...
Spoken as someone who believes a good song is a good song. I'm not anti pop. I'm just anti bad pop.
So to this video I say:
Thank U, next.
It sounds to me like that F bomb was f**king shoehorned the f*** in. Fuuuuuu**k.

Wow. 46 million views in the first 24 hours for Thank U, Next. Funny take off on Mean Girls.Nightbreed said:

Look, the height of music.altaeria said:
You really gotta give these kids today some credit. There’s tons of hardcore porn available right there just waiting for them- yet they choose to spend their time watching corny pop videos and posting on instagram. Good for them. I couldn’t have done it.lightbulb said:
To garner that stat, I doubt the entire 5 minutes needed to play in it’s entirety...I’m guessing there was several multi-million hits just to hear a short segment, then click on another video, or others just playing it to mainly hear the music, or perhaps hardcore fans playing it on constant repeat, or others to just gawk at the artist.

I wonder if record companies can buy views, kind of like people can buy fake followers on facebook and twitter, etc.altaeria said:
Bingo! We have a winner!93curr said:
I don't get it. Is there anything to get? The video is just random references to old movies. Does that have anything to do with the song? Or even with each other? Is there some point to this or is it just supposed to be funny in the same sense that those (also now pretty old) "movie" movies by Seltzer/Freidberg were supposed to be? Are we supposed to like the song just because we can recognize the movies? It's just puzzling. :wtf:

Just like Sunday Night Football, I bet this video sounds so much better with the sound turned off.Metralla said:
I actually gave it a shot by going into the kitchen and listening to the music without the soft porn visuals. Right - well we know what "sells" even if it's free. Is she swearing in that song? Her vocals are not particularly clear, by design I guess.

Yeah. 'Mean Girls' and 'Bring It On' and 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' and 'Legally Blonde' etc. But I'm not seeing the connection. None of the plots of any of the movies she's copying seem to have much to do with the point of the song. As far as I can see, anyway. Is it like a Taylor Swift 'Bad Blood' kind of thing?

Yes but it was far better on mute!Panther said:
She's 25 and a half now, so the industry should be done with her soon enough.I'm kind of hoping for an MC Hammer-style epic financial meltdown where we find out she's 25 million in debt or something.
In the meantime, let's enjoy the eye-candy.

So popularity = song quality. Got it.kwadguy said:
They obviously spent a lot of money on this video...and it is kind of amusing......but I can't even sit through a minute of this auto-tuned drivel. And it's not just that it's auto-tuned. It's that the song itself is crap...

I just clicked to see her in the Santa suit and I turned the volume to 0. Does that count?Andre Acvedo said:
I though she had already released this song? Why add the swearing? Does she know her age demographic?Mugrug12 said:
I actually like the song but the f word in the chorus sounds weird like it shouldn't be there. I have no issue w cursing just seemed shoehorned in.kwadguy said:
What you mean to say, in Ariana-speak, is:It sounds to me like that F bomb was f**king shoehorned the f*** in. Fuuuuuu**k.
