No need to cross any of those words out.

The correct answer is that any kid who had held a guitar for at least a month could have played that lead. One thing I DO know, I gotta get me a JOHN guitar! This is so dumb, it could be a sig. I let my seven year old plonk around on my Strat every now and then and some of his random plonking probably sounds better than "Cry For A Shadow"...the song, not just the solo. And, seriously- to Steve Hoffman, or anybody else: "Cry For A Shadow", guys, really? It's a Beatles song the goddamn Beatles didn't even give a fuck about, why should you? I don't even consider myself remotely close to being a SHiTE anymore (thank Christ for small favours), but even from a lurking distance their unnatural, unhealthy obsession with all things Beatle over there is enough to put me right off the fuckin' band altogether. And it's a pretty near thing as it is...

He can hear a difference in cables but can’t tell that’s George on lead guitar?

This topic seems to come up other places as well. Yes, it's not like George's usual style. He's trying to sound like the Shadows. It's right there in the fucking title.

So I’m gonna revive this a bit- I just came across this and was interested to read some think Lindsey’s howling at the end. I read in an interview with either Stevie or one of the engineers that she came to the studio around 2 am or so and just let loose on the wails. The engineer or whoever said she raised goosebumps on him with their intensity. And then they couldn't use it due to cutting problems. And then they used it and didn't care about the cutting problems. And then they didn't use it because they didn't want to bother about the cutting problems. And then it sat for thirty years, wrong. And then Kevin and I came blundering along and, well, did a lot of work for totally no overtime dollars. Heh. WTF does this even mean?

Hey, it was an equitable partnership. Kevin did all the work while STeVE popped a few Vics and sat back, dreaming about the next EQ move he might suggest if ever he got his hands on the Four Jacks and a Jill catalog. Given the alternative of STeVE actually being involved and fucking things up, I'm sure Kevin Gray was satisfied with that arrangement. Maybe he'd even get STeVE to tell him a story once in while for a laugh.

If anyone really cares, it’s an embarrassingly awful backing vocal from Stevie Nicks on Gold Dust Woman that is audible on some versions but not others. It’s just wailing and moaning but I think the diehard Stevie Nicks fans see it as some sort of witchy exorcism.

Thanks for explaining what the topic is, but can anyone actually understand STeVE’s word salad? I’ve read it a few times and each time it appears to be merely gibberish.

Why all the trolling, snarkiness, bating, etc. lately? What is all that about? Why are so many people here doing this lately? I myself was accused of trolling a thread about hip hop. I tried to explain that not liking a particular kind of music is not that same as being a "hater". I said that I also was not a fan of opera but that I respect that kind of work very much, I just don't care for it, but that surely that does not mean I hate it. For saying that, I got banned from the thread. How is that trolling? And yet getting on here today, I've already seen numerous instances of trolling, bating, and snarkiness? Little two or three line jabs, posts totally lacking any kind of thoughtful input, nasty comments. What the hell? Some people even consider themselves experts in this area. Like sultans? Why go into a hip hop thread if you don’t like hip hop? Just to tell people you don’t like it? I don’t like classical music so should I go into a classical thread to inform the world I don’t enjoy it? Why would anyone care what I don’t like? Because hip hop is music and I am interested in all music. I have two hip hop LPs (Enter the Wu-Tang and The Low End Theory) despite in general of not being a fan of the genre. It's important to me to be educated about all forms of music and I hate none of them. And puppies. This hobby attracts a lot of socially awkward or know-it-all types. Niche hobbies are small ponds, which means people get overly worked up about territory and who's right or wrong. You got a bunch of forum members aging, and seniors often stop giving a crap about what they say or do. They are past needing to please anyone, for better or worse. And you got a lot of young people joining who have chips on their shoulder and haven't "matured" yet. Seems like this forum nowadays is getting people on those extreme ends of the civility spectrum. I know @brian Lux is a good-hearted and well-intentioned person, but that post in the "Hip-hop turns 50" thread was forgetting the old rule, "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything." There has been so much history of haters of hip-hop on this forum, you're just stepping into doo doo announcing that you have zero interest in the topic in that type of thread. Things would be much mellower if people on both sides of the political spectrum would keep their politics to themselves. That leads to bickering and gives us less tolerance for such antics. And Putin wins.
