I want the "New York" version of Blood on the Tracks, as it has mixes that are not on the boxset. "Idiot Wind" sounds quite different with another organ part. And there are just 7,500 copies. But the nearest store is 200 meters away from where I live, so it will just take me getting out of bed for 9:30am. It's a pretty frickin sweet item; I played mine last night and Idiot Wind is just what you want. (No equipment profile, sorry). <shite off> 7500 is pretty big for a "limited" run and I imagine you'll get this easily, but it was fun watching SHites get indignant about some guy in a shop opening one before the day.

I heard that a rip of the actual acetate isn’t hard to find. You know, if you can listen to digital without your ears bleeding

If you want the "New York" version of Blood on the Tracks, just wait a few months and buy it cheap off discogs. That's what I did to get "The Original Basement Tape" a few years ago. Only 2500 of those were pressed and it was easy to find.
Though admittedly, the interest in it sort of tapered off in the haze of RDSs past.
Most of these collectors never listen to this shit anyway.

That's the thing. They generally release their best stuff, because they want it to sell. I've got a ton of Stones outtakes and concerts and I've had people ask which ones are "essential," and I always said the "essential" stuff was their official catalog. There's a couple of 72 and 73 shows that I wish were more readily available, but you can live without that stuff. I hardly ever play it, and I haven't even listened to any outtakes in ages. I'll give the Stones a little credit, though. When they re-released Some Girls and Exile on Main St. Jagger added vocals to some tracks that definitely needed something. They also added some guitar parts and pretty much finished some stuff that needed finishing and also finally officially released some stuff that needed to be officially released. Some people bitched, but those people all seem to like Tattoo You, which is essentially an album of the same type of vault raiding. I actually play that stuff. I almost never play the "bonus cuts" on other releases. I listen to them once, then that disk or record pretty much just sits there and I still play the original release. Those kind of releases just don't have the history or cachet of the original versions. I really like Spotify for that kind of stuff.

And to piggy back off of this look at how many people bought 3, 4, 5 or more Beatles mono boxes as well as the individual record releases. And for what? “It’s an investment.” Nope, for bragging rights to show the world what an asshole you are. Before I got the boot over there someone was saying that they wanted a mono Magical Mystery Tour and couldn’t find one. I said someone had given me one a few years ago, it was on a shelf never opened, and if he wanted it I would take $30 and postage. He messaged me back saying that there just be something wrong with it or why would I take so little and that he would pass. I never got to save that exchange because I was banned a couple of days later.

I woke up early this morning to the sound of pouring rain. It's an RSD miracle.

No James McCartney picture discs, no RSD for me. Good day, sir! We give ol' James more attention than his own father probably does...

My local news did a live report from one of the record stores this morning. I felt sorry for the reporter (who is fairly new within the last year or two) as she seems to be really nice and sweet in real life because the owner of the store was a real dick to her. “For those of us who don’t have record players why would do you feel that the vinyl format has come back and what in your mind makes it superior?” “The proper phrase is turntable and really those who don’t understand aren’t in line waiting for us to open at 10.” Fuck him. I was at that store a few weeks ago, before the previous owner suddenly passed it was the place to go for used CDs, records, etc. I didn’t even recognize it when I was there and I decided then I wouldn’t be returning. Seeing that this morning confirmed it for me.

It plays records. It’s a record player, asshole. A logical answer would have been, “Some people grew up with records and it’s a nostalgic kick to them. Others love the sound because to them it sounds more natural while others just prefer that format.” I will have to ask my dad if he saw it and if so what he thought.

Record player is actual more descriptive of the function than a table turning.

The record player spins the vinyls. The music moves my soul.
