You bought the Five Guys box over there? Good shit. yup. I already have the other set with the complete albums and bonus tracks, but there's still plenty of exclusive material on it. Now if only I could get Coast To Coast for cheap (since I doubt it's ever gonna get reissued at this point.)

The Five Guys live stuff is so much better than Coast to Coast. No Plonk no Faces.

I bought a Faces box set off the classified section yesterday. I've wanted it for a long time and it was the right price. One of the best boxes out there, you will LYKE.

for whatever it's worth, I overall prefer Rod's albums from that era (made of course with plenty of help from Wood and the other Faces.) I love Ooh La La, but the other albums have their share of filler. And I'm not too big on Ronnie Lane's tracks (save for the ones on Ooh La La). Still, the good shit is top notch. And as far as Rod's first five, I think Never A Dull Moment is a masterpiece, Smiler is just decent (some of the outtakes are better than the final product), and the other three are all tied for second.

The Ronnie Lane /Pete Townshend album Rough Mix is a favorite of mine. If you dig that album, check out some of Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance albums. They are truly some of my favorite albums of the '70s.

Speaking of Faces, a good while back now I downloaded a torrent of outtakes, all from the Ooh La La sessions. It was a bit messy, with some tracks mislabeled (some of the songs were later released in 2015). One I recognized as being a random Stones instrumental "I'll Let You Know" credited as a fictitious Faces number "Empty Pockets". The other I can't identify. It sounds similar to the groups various instrumentals, but it's something different. soundcloud.com/alexfilosa/instrumental/s-n0zcr
