I can't recall if I wrote about DES here or on SHtV, but it can be good. The Eric Records tracks seem to be hit or miss, and that's just going by the small sample I've heard (of songs that I like.) Not everything they put out is simply DES, btw. There's another method of creating stereo tracks, by using various stages (like having access to the backing track, a track with minimal overdubs, and the full mix). Again, results will vary. I really like this stereo mix they put out
(It could very well have been made by manipulating different "stages," in this case the fact that the US single was just an overdubbed version of the UK single. Aside from the intro, which might indeed be DES, the track seems to have the original recording in the left channel, the "Traffic" overdubs in the right, and the voice centered.)
It's much better than that awful stereo mix of I'm A Man that is on some comps. That one sounds just dreadful, which is very strange considering all the Spencer Davis Group recordings (I'm A Man included) are top quality. I don't know the providence of it, but if I ventured a guess, I'd say it was a high generation vintage mix.
Go and listen to the songs you like and decide for yourself if the process worked well on them or not. Simple as that.

I’m a pretty big fan of Eric records. The company is actually just two guys, Bill and Mark. When an order of mine went missing they actually called me personally to help me find out what was going on and to make sure that they would correct any problems I encountered. The quality of the tracks on these CDs varies from very good to brilliant. It’s really a labor of love for them and they really deserve some support, please, not a bunch of snark. I think Steve is hoping they’ll throw some crumbs of work to him. He was very uncomplimentary to them in the past.

Aside from the stereo stuff, they also feature plenty of "hard to find" original mixes in excellent sound. They seem to pretty much accomplish what STeVE has tried and failed to do.

I have zero issues with the company itself, if they can improve or create something new with what they have access to then why not? But the reactions from STeVE just 24 months ago shows that he does not/did not like what they’re doing. What changed is what I want to know. Maybe Hoofy has addressed it and I did not see it but instead of coming out with a full endorsement he could have started with saying that he was negative in the past but it has changed now because .... but not our Hoffy. I am sure he is wanting a piece of the action, and with the mention of “my mixes” being used he can still stroke his ego by claiming a piece somehow.

Correct. That would entail: 1) Enjoy a successful career with a reputable music publishing company 2) Work upfront sans obfuscation. Address possible issues in a calm and rational manner 3) Use established social media/personal website in an honest and transparent fashion. Substantiate assertions made by the company/advertising Really not all that difficult to do. It works. It's been proven the world over. Heh. Sigh.

STeVE finished a long time... ago.
