This was taken with a crappy plastic Holga. I think I spent $50 on it?
Holga was my camera of choice back when I had delusions of being a photographer. I paid $13 for mine.
"I must say though, artists like Kurt or Thelonious Monk who people think have something to say of the highest importance but are really just suicidal or insane sort of freak me out. Why? Well, everyone thought Monk was really "out there" but they followed his lead and jazz changed. Turns out he really was insane and was finally locked up. Does that mean that the jazzers were wrong to follow him? No, but still." - STeVE
I'm getting a Leica 10-D to mess around with for a few months. This is the digital M that has NO viewscreen or digital display on the back. It's just like an analog camera except no film. Looking forward to it.. Sucker costs $8,000.00 and that's without a friggin' lens!
This guy doesn't like it much..
Leica’s new M10-D is a digital camera with an analog soul
As I mentioned earlier, I don't have a burning desire to create art, I just like the mechanics of taking a manual photograph, setting shutter speed, setting aperture, composing and focusing, then "click." It's relaxing to me.
If I want to take fast snaps of kids, whatever, I'll use my iPhone.
I LIKE doing the manual stuff.
I talk about camera gear a lot here and on Facebook. I take pictures of the people I love, mostly. No place for them here.
I take pride in owning ridiculously expensive gear. The more cameras, the better I feel about myself. I am not able to properly operate any of these devices, I just like to caress the buttons. None of the photo's I take have any artistic value, they are in essence completely useless. That is because I am a useless boomer asshole who never did have to put any effort into anything at all. My dad did all the work, see? Now, tell me how great how I am. Once more.
Look, Pal, they work great. They are for rich people though. If you've never heard them you can't have an opinion on the way they sound so yap up. -SH
You're not worshiping me per se, but what I STAND FOR: The best sounding music out there! -SH
I take pics on my piece of shit smartphone, and for the most part am happy with how they come out. I can't take anything after dark (especially with the bright white streetlights. The old orange ones were a bit more forgiving) and I can't zoom in, but for a built in feature on a bottom tier device, it is a fun little thing and sometimes I get nice pics to post for my 7 instagram followers.
