Could anyone recommend some modern bands that sound like the Monkees? The Monkees recordings are/were pretty diverse and covered a lot of ground: I don't think there's any one band today that's quite as varied in style. Fucking retards. Yes, I know this belongs in the Monkees Bonfire forum, but at this stage of the game, what's the difference? I can't decide who is more stupid here. Gill-man wanting to get into some hip, young Monkees-type bands, which are all the rage among the kids I hear. Or Grand_Ennui, inspired by slacker Nez enough to assume the identity of one of his songs, who thinks the Monkees were 'more varied in style' than 'any one band today', even though I assure you he has never played an album released after 1981. Or me, for rooting through Hoofer's on a holiday... Happy Thanksgiving, even to Monkeetards. forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/modern-bands-that-sound-like-the-monkees.714872/

Modern bands which sound like the Monkees: The Turtles, The Carpenters, The Association, The Mamas and The Papas.
50 years ago is modern enough for a SHite, and it's the same band on the above acts' records.

Said it before and I'll say it again: I'll never understand some of these SHiTEs unhealthy obsession with the fucking Monkees, a "band" that was one of the biggest jokes ever perpetuated on the music industry. I can't take them or their goddamn fans seriously at all...

Because it reminds them of the time they were kids. They were watching the show, buying records, and they weren't aware of real life issues in those days. Listening to The Monkees again is supposed to bring them back in these times.
