That song is what those cloth-eared SHites like to pretend is McCartney's "punk" phase. But like the rest of the album it has nothing even remotely to do with punk rock.
McCartney fans are a league of their own. They have at least 40 years worth of SHIT albums they have had to force themselves to like. They don't know what good music even sounds like anymore. They will find good in the absolute worst dross imaginable.
I too bought Back To The Egg around the time of it's release. It was the last Macca album I ever bought.
I feel the need to make a Shred video out of that.
McCartney aping Sting while the rest of the band are still in 1974.
That's a spot on description. These videos are unbearable. So McCartney's ambition at this point was to lead the hammiest, most shamelessly mugging band to have ever existed? I guess they at least succeeded with that particular goal.
"Desiring and then acquiring an expensive watch is prima facie evidence you are a cunt." — Steve Albini
As promised. I kept it a lot shorter than that original dirge.
I’m pleased that was my introduction to that song.
"I must say though, artists like Kurt or Thelonious Monk who people think have something to say of the highest importance but are really just suicidal or insane sort of freak me out. Why? Well, everyone thought Monk was really "out there" but they followed his lead and jazz changed. Turns out he really was insane and was finally locked up. Does that mean that the jazzers were wrong to follow him? No, but still." - STeVE
